CNN's Preview of ciV

check it out. Not much new, but:

Quote:
Many of the pieces in the game were recorded by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra in Prague, capital of the Czech Republic. In addition to traditional instruments, hundreds of unique ethnic percussion, string, wind and reed instruments were used to achieve each culture's musical feel.
That is about it that is new XD

WOW, it's not even a slow news day or anything.
The music making sounds very exciting though. I wonder if leaders will have the civ-specific themes playing in the background, considering they're talking now.

Michael Curran specifically says in the official site interview video that they have more than 3 hours for music "for leaders" in the game.

Been stated earlier, but here it is again:

Good news for many.

Lead animator Chris Hickman said he wanted to make the leaders have distinct personalities so that each one feels different.

"George Washington is based on my grandfather, a friendly, open, older gentleman," Hickman said. "Julius Caesar is bored and dismissive when talking with the players."

Must be a mistake....

What? I know its Iulius Caesar because they had no J, but what's wrong with Julius Caesar?

Isn't Augustus the confirmed Roman leader?

If we're technical, yes. But I'm pretty sure he's just referred to as Augustus in the game.

But it's supposed to be Augustus, as in Julius' nephew, as in the first emperor of Rome... right? They wouldn't call Julius Caesar "Augustus," would they?

I'm happy that it will work on laptops

But also, why aren't the leaders going to have the personality that they did in real life? I mean, George Washington as some guy's grandpa? What's up with that? Washington could now be totally different from what he was in real life for all we know.

Since there's not a whole lot distinguishing them in terms of speech and visual, it's possible they made the switch mid-development and the guy had a slip.

The hexes also change how combat works. With two more sides to each space, two more units can be brought into each battle.
Actually two less units can be brought into battle. They forgot about the diagonals.

Even a casual follower of Civ V news can point out a number of errors in the CNN article. Which is typical of CNN reporting in the last few years.
