Well, it's possible he could have been basing it on the Porcelain Tower, except it's pretty hard to make octagonal stuff (I'm guessing) so he settled for square.

No, it is easy to make octagons. I didnt know it was Japanese.

Is there entirely no possibility at all that such a structure could exist in medieval China?

Anyway i think i will leave the set as it is, because i like the Pagoda more than the other buildings in it :)
 
Well, you can barely notice what shape the pagoda is (it could almost be round) so I think there's no real reason to change it.

You could use "Big Wild Goose Pagoda"; that one is fairly simple to make.

As far as any pagodas like that existing in China, there were wooden pagodas, but not in that style. This set could represent early Korea.
 
I wonder, could you send him your Bryce file of the BWG Pagoda? Are they exportable? If you still have it, of course.
 
The problem isnt making it, i could do it myself. The thing is that i like the Pagoda i made, and will only change it if i ever (unlikely) make a Japanese set where i can use it ;)

True, but the other "fantasy" sets have all been culturally accurate. Even in a cheesy kung-fu movie, you don't have kung fu samurai warlords. :crazyeye:

I would say, however, that this is much more fitting for an early Korean set or even an early Japanese set since both cultures had distinctive wooden pagodas but adopted Tang Dynasty-style architecture.
 
Is there anyway to make stuff on the cityset civ-colored?


EDIT: I don't mean on this set; I mean on any set in general.
 
No. You can make them transparent, but they will just look like crap, unless you have specific bonus grassland tiles under them that are civ coloured :)
 
An ancient Greek scenario could use the same set with 5 (or up to 20) different roof colours.

Im just too bored to make them, particularly with no such scen around ;)

Im not even sure if i would make a persian one, for the same reason.
