Jon Anderson who writes those er meaningful Yes lyrics grew up in my home town. As a kid I used to carry some of the gear when his band (the Warriors) used to rehearse in the church hall near my house.

Not only that but I used to know a girl who used to babysit for Jon Anderson's brother who used to get access to all the Yes albums months before they were released. I got to hear a couple long before release.

Not only that but I was at school with David Lloyd and Graham Fowler, former England cricketers.

I was at school with someone who plays/has played for Tottenham. Erm, that's it.

Name names.

John, Charles, Richard, Peter, George, Harry, Robert. :p

He only played for them a few times - John Piercy.

When I was a young lad, my father was an Air Force meteorologist stationed at Kelly Field in San Antonio, Texas. This was 1965-66. Anyways, a lot of astronauts from Houston would fly up to Kelly for the day, top off with av gas, and hop back to Houston. One day, while on base, my dad introduced me to a couple of guys who were hoping to be astronauts.
One of them was Neil Armstrong.
Had I only known....
Also got to go backstage at a concert and meet Joe Walsh, but he was already famous.

My mom is Robert Bateman's (the painter) dentist. Does that count?

I used to work in a comedy club here in Toronto little over 10 years ago.

In the course of that time, I got to know Norm MacDonald (used to do the SNL news) he was a regualr and possibly my favourite stand-up comic of all time. Never mind what he did on television, he's much funnier than that.

I also met Adam Sandler once, about the same time he'd started on SNL)

The Kids in the Hall were frequently there, I started at the club about 6 months before they were on television.

I met a few people who'd already become famous as well, including the Rolling Stones and Mr. T.

It was the same club where Howie Mandel got his start, he'd come by on occasion, and he's an even bigger wanker in person.

Mick Ronson, now deceased lead guitarist with David Bowie, was once the lead for a small band in the city of Hull called "The Rats". They used to play at my youth club.

Peter Oxendale (keyboards for Jet, Bonnie Tyler, John Foxx, Dead And Alive, Frankie Goes To Hollywood and Chris DeBurgh etc etc) was the keyboard player in my school rock band with me on lead guitar. We wrote songs together and hitchhiked down to the Bath Blues festival together in 1970.

When I lived in Rio De Janeiro I ran into actors from Brazilian soap operas all the time.

@ Stormerne- wow. Do you still know Oxendale? Do you still play?

I went to junior high school with Cathy Coleman, who a little later starred in that old Sid & Marty Kroft saturday morning show "Land of the Lost."

Not that anyone remembers that show or anything.

SLEESTAKS RULE! :D

On topic, I went to high school with Bonnie Blair, the olympic speedskater. I even socially interacted with her from time to time. I didn't like her at all. The feeling was mutual.

She seems much different these days, though.

My wife once bought blinds from Kirstie Alley. My wife is also
a cousin to the Hearst Clan, hence a shirtail relative of William Randolph and Patricia Hearst.

For my self, I never met anyone before they were famous except David Koresh. Or was he imfamous. Does that count? Lynette Woodard, Captain of the Gold Medal Woman's Olympic basketball team was a classmate of mine in high school. Barry anders went to the same high school, but later.

My sister had the group Kansas play her prom. That was before "Wayward Son."

Well I didn't meet anyone famous before, but my mom said that my sister refused a photo opportunity with Jackie Chan before he was famous around the globe and was only a local celebrity in Hong Kong. I was just flabbergasted at my sister! Oh well. It was BEFORE he was famous.

I remember... but this means you are OLD, which comes as a shock...

i met (not on the ice) several ice hockey players before they moved to nhl and became stars. peter forsberg, markus näslund and the sedin twins for example.

I met President Clinton once, but that was while he was famous.

My uncle went to High School with Dan Quayle.

I lived a block away from Jay Novacek, a tight end for the Dallas Cowboys when we were growing up...

I also saw Everclear back before they became famous. They weren't THAT great.

We've drifted apart and lost contact with each other. Doubtless he would still remember me. I have his email address but have never got round to writing.

Yes I do still play. Still pretty good but I haven't played in a band now for over ten years. Always on the lookout for prospective band members but I'm getting choosy in my old age. :)
