For those not in the know, see this thread.

So tell us, which civilization would you most like to see being played live? I know you could answer "Civ V", so before you even do let me make it dead obvious I'm talking about which nation/leader ;)
Optionally, let us know if you'd have different picks for early start vs. modern era.

p.s. The order of civs in the poll is as they popped into my head. It was a fun exercise remembering all 18. Yes, it took some time. Absolutely, I forced myself to--time and again I wondered if there were really 18--but then I threatened my ego to also wonder how much of a fanatic I really was.

Greece or France to maximize the exposure to either City-States or Social Policies

Germany, lets see if their ability is as bad as people say it is

I'd like to see America played to see how their Manifest Destiny trait plays out in the early game. If I had a second choice, however, I'd agree with Germany. Seeing as the AI folks mentioned Germany specifically in Podcast 8 as having a "aggressive" bonus, so it might be interesting to see it in action. However, I feel that this might just make me want to find a Delorean with a flux capacitor and skip over a week in my life to end up on 9/21 with CivV downloaded and ready to go. Can't wait to see the game in action!

...Babylon is missing there...should be a good opportunity to see their leader and the UA.

I would be shocked if Babylon were an option. They seem to want to keep that as much of a surprise as possible.

Anyway, I voted for Persia because I think they're really cool. Plenty of options, all good. Greece would be cool for the City States dynamic too.

Germany. have a war at the beginning and good economy later. :)

Edit: It's stupid that it's shown in 1 pm in Las Vegas time zone. In Croatia it starts in 10 pm. Cool .

Ottomans b/c they have the most controversial UA so far (as to its actual worth).

I voted for Greece. I'm really interested in seeing city states, and diplomacy in action.

I think Germany is too much based on luck for us to make a good assessment based on one play. If Greg lucked out and got many barbarians, we'd feel the UA to be great. If he would be in a bad day, we'd think it awful. Could be a curse, or a curse in disguise.

I think Greece would be great for City States, Ottoman would be nice to see how many pirate ships there will be when you look for them, Iroquois because of the unique ability and for knowing their other uniques, India to see about expansion, Songhai for the embarking mechanism and how strong civilians are in those situation, China to see how the Great General bonus plays out better, and Aztec just for the bloodbath.
You can clearly see I can't pick one, so I'll let statistics do their magic.

Like Louis, I also very much doubt they'd let us in to what is really optional content so far. And not available at launch, AFAIK.

There is no option for random! :(

I think we could gauge a lot about a randomly assigned Civ, and how good it is, based on Greg's reaction to having to play with it.

But then we'd be gauging a, well, random civ! What if it was an uninteresting or obvious playstyle (not that there are many, really)?

It's a good idea nonetheless. What I'm sad about is China and Aztec get no love :(

I voted for England because i want to know does a powerful navy make any difference this time.
