Training camps are about to get underway, so about time to get the regular season thread going.

Some news to start us out.

Bobby Ryan signs 5 year, $25.5 million deal with Ducks
Sheldon Souray told not to attend Oilers training camp
NHL fines Devils $3 million, take away 1 first round draft pick and 1 third round draft pick for attempting to circumvent the cap on Kovalchuk deal
Roberto Luongo gives up captaincy

My preseason predictions, which by the end of the season will probably be laughable bad.

What I like about your prediction is that this way, if the Habs plow through Wash and Pitt, then they might actually face anybody-but-the-Flyers in Round 3 :-p.

Yeah, but then just watch them face Tampa with a red hot Dan Ellis :p

I wonder if the blast radius from the destruction of Montreal (over the Habs losing to the team the fandumbs think we should have) would extend all the way to Ottawa?

Carey Price got booed in Montreal today during a loss to the Bruins. Could be a long season for him if he doesn't start playing a lot better.

Will be a long season for him thanks to the dumb... that call themselves fans.

Rumors here are that the team the 'Canes lost 5-3 to last night were 'going for the knees' ... Staal was held out of the 3rd period for that reason and Dan Gleason even fought :hammer: some goon.

Your team still embarrassed the rest of us. Never, never, never lose to the Ruskies.

I joined a hockey pool for the first time this year. I missed draft day. I now pray for a quick recovery for Streit and a renaissance for Sheldon Souray...

On another forum I am on a person claimed he saw the game 'in person from the 4th row' and the 'Canes were the ones playing like 'goons'.

Can you not drop them in favor of other players? Crappy players maybe, but players who would actually be playing?

A few hockey related news pieces:

Atlanta's Ondrej Pavelec collapsed on the ice at the start of the Washington-Atlanta game. Luckily its reported he is doing well.

And in case you missed it, Jordan Eberle had a pretty nice first NHL goal.

Pretty nice? That goal is going to be on the high light reels for a long long time. Doubt Crosby or Ovchkin will get a better looking goal this year.

Can't believe Hall is having a hissy fit about Eberle "Stealing his night" from him. What a crybaby

Well, well.

Looks like Carey Price figured that you don't have to be named Halak to engage in constructive highway robbery against Pittsburgh.

Hope the fandumb remember that.

They were kidding around and doing a bit for TSN or Sportsnet. He wasn't really upset.

Oh thank god(thats what I get for watching it at work with closedcaption) If theres one thing Edmonton doesn't its locker room fightings(and 500+days of injury time)

The Hawks look confused to start the season. Heavy legs? Definitely not deep enough to have Sharp and Campbell out. For extended time like Hossa and Bolland last year. I like the way the 4th line has looked but without Soupy our D pairings are out of sync.

Edmonton looks like they will be a fun team to watch this year.

As a Flames fan, I am jealous of the Oilers, what with the Flames having started going into a downward spiral. Though the good news for the Flames is TJ Brodie, who made the team right out of junior, to the surprise of everyone. So at least now the Flames have two good prospects in Brodie and Mikael Backlund.
