PLEASE HELP!!! Graphics problem

Just bought civ 5 today and having massive problems with the graphics.

Basically the interface keeps stuttering. I'd say that my computer needs an upgrade but the intro video loads fine - would've thought this would use more 'power' (bare with me I know very little about computers).

I currently have to play the game through the strategic map, which basically means no graphics whatsoever. I want to fix this problem!!

My computer details are as follows:

System: XP SP3
Computer: Intel(R) Core (TM)2 CPU
6400 @ 2.13 GHz
2.13 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM

What do you have for a video card? I think that is your problem.

What is your graphics card?

Also intro videos do not need much more power than, say, youtube.

Where do I find that information? I can't possibly tell you how little I know about computers!!

Go to your start menu and go to "RUN" type in dxdiag and hit enter. Go to the tab that says Display and post back here with the Name, Chip Type, and Total Memory.

Name: 256MB ATI Radeon X1300PRO

Total memory: 256 mb

Oh that is your problem, it is horribly out of date. You need to buy a new graphics card, sorry mate.

Go to the Computer Talk subforum here and make a thread about upgrading your computer, people will be along to help you soon (whenever it is they check in, there are a bunch of people who regularly check it who can help.

EDIT: And post your country (and province or state if its a big country) as that helps for suggesting online retailers.
