Somewhere around...say, 5 I guess. Future patches might, or might not raise the number :)
 
9, some of my buddies are hardcore FPS gamers and will reject anything that doesn't involve a 3d shooter environment.

The game is accessible for new players and still a challenge for us older players. Sure, once you know certain tricks which you can apply to most games you'll beat it a lot, but I'm also sure that we'll be seeing some great patches the upcoming months turning this game into a shiny diamond of awesomeness ^^
 
2-3, unless I knew they played civ rev and liked it I wouldnt recommend it to them. Most of my friends play wow and starcraft2 anyways
 
Nah. Not after playing the multiplayer. This game is fine vs. the computer (with some problems) but the multiplayer is atrocious.
 
Not a chance in hell.

I'm so embarrassed that I dressed up as Ghandi and stood in front of Best Buy for 17 hours waiting for this goddamn release.

Tomorrow, I'm going back down there dressed as Jack Torrance and I'm going to tear the place apart.

Currently only someone without a conscience could recommend this game to anyone.

But there's a lot of potential so after Firaxis has patched and (re)balanced the game sufficiently I'm sure I will gladly recommend it to everyone.
 
Game is brilliant. I have so many friends who love it too, but don't post on this forum. Already shared it on facebook as best in the series.

anyone that plays civ will get it anywho

people that like combat attack 4 or wahtever would never play civ
 
I would have liked a "Not yet..." option, as I have 3 friends waiting to buy after multiplayer and AI patches have been applied...

Civ 5 should be good when it is finished.
 
Never (in its current state).
 
I already discouraged a friend of getting it now and to wait atleast until january or something like that ( he has BtS so he is not exactly in desperate hunger for a civ game ) . By that time things will probably be more ironed.

Yeah I myself am waiting for an AI update. Right now there are more people against recommending the game than for. I'd like to see that turn around and I think an AI update is probably key to that, along with maybe some mods or some DLCs or expansions that add back a few of the things everyone seems to be missing.
 
I'm 50/50. I would point it out but with a HUGE caveat about its flaws - especially the the brains of a fruit fly AI and the nutty diplomacy.
