Here is my first attempt to add the italian civilization to civ5...at the moment the mod completely lacks of unique graphics (evil dds :()

Leader: Garibaldi
Trait: Renaissance Communes - All the Social Policies cost only 75% of the original Culture but the territorial expansion requires 50% more.
(maybe too overpowered?)

UU: Alpino - Str 26, ignores terrain movement penalities and starts with the Drill promotion.

UB: Carnevale - Replaces the circus. Doesn't need resources to be built and generates 1 culture but the upkeep cost is increased by 1.

Please let me know if there are bugs, grammar errors or anything else! :)

First impressions (just from reading)

Carnevale sounds pretty bloody expensive with the increased maintenance.

The UBs are supposed to confer an advantage. A +1 maintence circus isn't good enough. That's expensive.

Eheh, I was considering the chance to do something like that myself if I happened to find the time, though I would have gone for a completely modern Italy useful maybe for contemporary scenarios. With the Lince as the UU replacing the mech infrantry, and maybe... hmmm, Sandro Pertini as the leader? (the only contemporary "leader" we had in the XX century that would probably save us from biting each other heads off because of politics :D ).
For a more modern Italy a good civ trait could be "Italian Bureaucracy: 50% increase in buildings maintenance, while double happiness: because they are all always unhappy anyway, they're just used to it by now"

All kidding aside, good work dude, I'll give it a shot this evening. Only thing I could argue with, is Garibaldi as the chosen leader. Garibaldi was "just" a general, the "civ leader" of the time, after and thanks to Garibaldi's expedition, was King Vittorio Emanuele II. Or, since the Savoia are still today a bad, bad, very sensible topic, even better would have been Camillo Benso, count of Cavour, as he was the first President of the Council of the newborn Kingdom of Italy, even if just for three months before his death.

umm yeah but you can build it in any city even if there isn't ivory or horses...should i remove the +1 upkeep?

I would remove it. With the extra happiness and maybe slower expansion, players probably will hit Golden Ages (or the Italian Renaissance) often which is always interesting.

I know but i wanted a leader for the italian civilization not for the italian kingdom...though i admit that garibaldi probably isn't the best choice...

as soon as i manage to edit the dds files i'll upload a new version with the reduced upkeep cost and some graphics :)
