Hello!
This is my first mod for Civ V, and is a small mod that introduces extra features for the Top Panel (the black bar that runs along the top of the screen). I wanted to produce a small mod as a pilot, to understand this new modding system. It can be found on the online Mod Browser, as 'More Information - Top Panel' under the UI/Other filter. Description: Provides you with more information about Science, Culture and Golden Ages. Specifically:
NB: This mod should be compatible with all other mods as long as they do not affect the TopPanel.lua file. This mod currently completely overrides the TopPanel.lua file. Some screenshots are available at http://www.gairne.co.uk/civv As a clarification, I am fine with anyone incorporating this mod in their own mod. 'Special Thanks' are appreciated. Version History Version 3: One of the patches released changed TopPanel.lua slightly, and so I've updated the copy of TopPanel.lua in the mod. Also I have fixed a bug where the turn till golden age would be negative if the empire was unhappy. Version 2: First public release. Last edited by gairne; Oct 24, 2010 at 10:44 AM. Reason: New version |

i like it a lot
the only thing i changed was the science so it displayed the actual tech, as in Archery 0/33 (9 turns at +4) you've also encouraged me to try and modify the happiness so it looks like this: 11 ( 9 2)dunno quite how yet but we'll see lol

At 1024 resolution, the standard top bar barely fits without overlap. This just makes it worse.

it does, however, have some excellent calculations that can be extracted and used

As a web developer only 21% of users according to w3 (Jan 2010) are on monitors 1024 and smaller. See http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_display.asp for the stats. So do not worry too much about the too small critique.

The display of how many turns til next tech, in the top panel, will be particularly useful while we wait for the patch when eventually beaker overflow gets fixed. At the moment when tweaking science specialists in order to save a turn off a tech, one has to keep opening and closing the city screen unless one actually gets a calculator out.
Good job. Sometimes the simplest UI issues are the most important.
