Just great news, finaly a Dutch mod you are my hero:king: .

Hulde,

Elwood

I have finished a new unique unit: De Watergeus:

It is based on this picture:

Geuzen was a name assumed by the confederacy of Calvinist Dutch nobles and other malcontents, who from 1566 opposed Spanish rule in the Netherlands. The most successful group of them operated at sea, and so were called Watergeuzen (English: Sea Beggars). In the Eighty Years' War, the Capture of Brielle by the Watergeuzen in 1572 provided the first foothold on land for the rebels, who would conquer the northern Netherlands and establish an independent Dutch Republic. They can be considered either as privateers or pirates, depending on the circumstances or motivations

Added a new Building Wonder: The Deltaworks.

The Delta Works are a series of constructions built between 1950 and 1997 in the southwest of the Netherlands to protect a large area of land around the Rhine-Meuse-Scheldt delta from the sea. The works consist of dams, sluices, locks, dikes, levies, and storm surge barriers. The aim of the dams, sluices, and storm surge barriers was to shorten the Dutch coastline, thus reducing the number of dikes that had to be raised. The Delta Works have been declared one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World by the American Society of Civil Engineers.

Wow, cool wonder. Btw, does it give Great Engineering points? If not then I'd suggest that :)

Btw, is it possible to create the wonder as a separate mod?

I have to adjust the settings of the wonder. I focussed on the art first. But indeed I will add Great Engineering points :).

I completed the other new unique dutch unit. It is the flagship "Zeven provinciën". On it Michiel de Ruyter ruled the seas.

Next things to do:
* New wonder - The Amsterdam Stock Exchange - I first wanted to make it a unique building, but then again, there is only one of them so it wouldn't be right to make it build in one city.
* New unique building - I am open for suggestions
* Dutch trait

I would really like a Dutch civ!

-The Delta works could require coastal/river acces, no? And maybe -1 culture, +
(wonder right?)

Stock Exchange, awesome!

The dutch we're explorers and merchants.
-UB: Harbor costs no maintenance, or increases sea-gold yield, or trade routes with a friendly CS/AI, on a 1for1 basis. (dockyard?)
-UU: Watergeus rules :) no extra movement cost for passing rivers and marshes (reference to polders ;)) and +% bonus in those tiles?

UA ideas:
-Naval/expansion, and not similar to the one of Elizabeth/England;
Settlers (and workers?) start with embark and get +1 move on land, and +2 on water?
-VOC related;
CS provide double happiness from dyes, incense, ivory, silk, spices, gold and sugar (or any combination)
-"Gouden eeuw" or privileged bourgeoise
GA, when a city reaches x culture?

Ps. gonna find mod tools :p

Juckie, the Delta Works indeed require coastal acces. I am not sure how to tweak the Stock Exchange. I might add the building resources mod of Icys so it produces gold. And off course it would give some Great Merchant points.

I like the idea for double hapiness from the trade routes. Maybe in combination with a naval upgrade.

Also working on some new unique buildings. I might want to add a "dike" to increase city defense and "polder" (which requires the dike) to increase the food resources.

@juckie: It might sound like blatant self promotion but there are already two Dutch Civ mods out there, just search for "Dutch" in the in-game mod browser. Ofc I would recommend my own Dutch Republic since it is the most complete and balanced of the two :)

@martijnaikema:
Are you going for balance or just for fun? Since normally a civ only has two unique items and you are planning for a lot more for the Dutch.

In any case I found thinking up bonuses for wonders is really fun but in the end it will 90% depend on what you can actually do right now with XML.

You could write Lua but that might make your mod incompatible with other mods which for 'just' the addition of a Civ is fairly limiting since it blocks all the great balance mods out there and some of the UI ones. And even the Lua is fairly limited.

Suggestions for the Amsterdam Stock Exchange wonder:
* Counts as a Stock Exchange in every city.
* Free great Merchant.
* +4 gold on Luxury/Strategic/Specific Resources in this city.
* +2 gold on Luxury/Strategic/Specific Resources empire wide.
* +2 gold per Merchant specialist (=empire wide).
* +75% Gold in this city.

It indeed sounds self promotion :). Maybe you can use your own post on Civ Fanatics to promote your version of the Dutch Civ Mod instead of using my thread several times.

There are still enough possibilities to create good wonders only using XML. So it is a great way to add those to a civ mod.

For the AEX I indeed will implent Great Merchant points and will add some extra gold for trade routes.

Well, tbh I don't mind if anybody uses mine or others or will use yours in the future, I just want people to enjoy themselves. juckie simply didn't seem to know there were already Dutch mods out there so I couldn't say nothing.

I've just added links to the other Dutch civs in my thread. And if I can be of any assistence to your mod then just let me know :)

Your art is great! :)

This looks good, Martijn. I like the UU's and the 'VOC Mentality'. Would be very accurate with J.P. Balkenende as leader ;).

The new wonder I love too and I must say you did a very good job at keeping close to the game art. What I just can't see if is this is something you get with downloading your Dutch civ.

And polders: they didn't just increase food but also production. The defensive part is true too, never really realised it though :).

Thank you Hyronumus. I will include three new Wonders in the Dutch Mod:
* Aex - first stock exchange in the world - increases the gold profit for trade routes
* Deltaworks - Increases city defense and workers speed
* Dolmen (hunebed) - Culture boost and 1 free technology

I will try to update the screenshots this weekend and I think I will release the first version this Tuesday. So keep your eyes on this thread :).

I will keep my eyes on it ;).

I updated the first post of this thread with information and screens about the upcomming Dutch Civilization MOD. I hope you all enjoy it. Please let me know if you have any suggestions.

I updated the Civilopedia entries for the Dutch Civilization and Willem van Oranje. I made them very detailed just like the original civs in Civ V.

Will release the first beta version tomorrow morning.

I just release v 1.0 of my Dutch Civilization MOD. Please let me know what you think of it. I hope some of you can beta-test it for me before I put it up for download on the MOD HUB.

Please let me know if the MOD needs some tweaking. I did test the MOD ingame and it worked for me. But if you have trouble using the MOD please let me know. I also am looking for someone to take a look at all the new text I added.
