Haven't seen anyone mention this, so I thought I would.

City States will now gift Khans as Great People if you have the Educated Elite policy from the Patronage branch. Was completely useless in my peaceful culture game by way of accidental diplomacy win, but it actually happened twice. Screencap here is of the second time.

I actually kind of like this. It's a cool feature, though I can see how some would complain it removes a unique feature from the Mongols and makes the already powerful Patronage branch even more powerful.

How on earth are CS getting a mongol UU in the first place?

What's a Khan do anyway?

It is a Great General with increased movement, and healing effect on nearby units.

Edit: I'm not sure this is intended, I think it is more likely when they added the Khan great person type they forgot to exclude it from the great person types that CS can make.

China going to war with a Khan... now that would be something to behold! +45% combat, ultra-quick healing for your troops and a GG who can keep up with your mounted units. It's just terrifying.

To the OP: just want to check: I'm assuming you're not playing Mongols?

If so: oy.

The question is... Have you seen the imagem Vordeo??

Babylonian Batu (Khan)....

Arguing may be good, arguing without a base is only stupid....

And also: city states can't grant special unit... So even if i use Mongols, they couldn't give me a khan...

I also noticed in one of my games the CS requested a Khan as a great person that it wanted me to acquire. I was not playing as Mongols but they were in my game.

I also noticed in that game that a CS was allied with a Civ that was destroyed. Maybe 30 or so turns later I got a message saying that CS was no longer allied with that Civ. I understand that maybe they are keeping the reputation in case the Civ is brought back, but shouldn't that be hidden for that occurance and the CS allegiance shift to the next highest living Civ?

I wondered when someone else would notice this.

Ack, didn't see that. I figured the Mongol colours weren't those (they're brown IIRC), but wanted to make sure.

Yeah, hopefully that gets taken are of in the next glitch.

If that was meant for me, creating arguments out of thin air is also stupid.

Well, it was already mentioned in Bug Reports a few days ago. ;)

EDIT...

Ah, thanks. I keep forgetting that board exists. Mea culpa. Though I don't really consider this a bug, personally.

By the way, you have to be the most prolific mod on this board. I see you everywhere. Good work.

Nope. Babylonians. Hence why it's called a Babylonian Batu (Khan).

EDIT: I really need to read all comments before posting. I'm off my game today.

I've seen this happen with city states too often. I just liberated a civ, and it then gave me a full influence bar, except it was still allied with France who had been out of the game for a long, long time.

:cool:Thank you

You consider it not a bug? It would seem a fair bit unfair on Mongolia if every civ could enjoy the luxury of having a khan. It's meant to be one of their unique units.

They should make it so just the Mongols recieve that Great General. I think it would be unfair as Mongolia to never "draw" that Great General in a game.

Yeah, it takes a turn and then the game catches up with the events. Oh yeah, you now outweigh Civ A that was allied with this CS when it was captured by Civ B.

Like I said at the end of my first post:

The Mongols get Khans as a consistent spawn, while other civs would only get them randomly after buying 5 social policies and befriending a city state. There's no guarantee it would even be useful, like it wasn't in my case. (Yet another golden age).

That said, I wouldn't whine if they changed it, and I imagine it would be very annoying to be playing as the Mongols and receiving a Great General instead of a Khan from a City State.

I had the same thing happen to me while I was going for a culteral victory with Babylon...I wonder if it just happens when you play as Babylon? Khans rock btw...
