The combination of 2 of the best gaming franchises out there, Civilization and Warcraft, has led to a fine new map here at CivFanatics, the Azeroth map. It's the map of the warcraft continents, and now you can conquer them.
This awesomness has led to unexpected media echo, everyone loves the map!

Oh, and it has also been mentioned at the official Civilization twitter channel.

Now if there was a way to change the names to their Warcraft equivalents, we'd be set!
 
I'm surprised how much attention this map attracted. It is a great map though.
 
How do I play this? I have Civ5 on Steam and can't figure out where to copy these maps to? Apologies if this has been answered already, I can't seem to find it myself :(

Me too.
I guess some Warcraft fan as initiated an avelange with asking about the map via twitter, but i don't really have an idea how it could spread so wide :D.

It's the best to ask about this in our modding forum.
It's probably something easy like putting the file just in the right folder.

Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Been a while since I played. The areas are cool though and this map looks great.
 
A WoW map doesn't fascinate me in the least. Icy wastes bordering to deserts? No, thanks. Nonetheless I can see the fun of it.

I recently found a map of Tamriel from the Elder Scrolls Series and it is actually very much fun to play a game of Civ in the world of your favourite RPG. The same should go for all those Middle Earth maps as well.

My congratulations to the creator of this map of Azeroth.
 
While this is pretty cool, I'm a little sad the middle earth maps don't get similar (if not more) fame. I have truly enjoyed playing on them and basing my town names on where I colonize... MMmmmm... Loregasm....
 
Maybe I'm nuts, but how can I use this map?
I unziped the file and copied 2 files into /My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization 5/Maps.
Then when I go to the main menu, where can I find this map? :confused:

Somehow, Ive been getting a feeling that the world of Azeroth may be doomed. Strange events have been observed by many, and a general sense of unease is gripping this world. Its as if something momentous is about to happen.

I was a big WoW player all the way through BC and WotLK, but a CiV 5 map ?

Honestly it looks horrible to play on, more of the map is mountains than anything else.

It seems its become popular due to people who have never tried to play the map... Kind of odd Lol.
