Civ 5 randomly stopped working

Running Vista, been running fine for the past month and a half. Was in the middle of a game, accidentally pushed the power button on the computer while fiddling with something else. Booted the computer back up, fired up Civ 5... I received the little window that talks about connecting to Steam, then I received the DirectX selection window... I tried both 9 and 10 at different points. A black console window would pop up and then close within a split second... almost like the computer was trying to boot up the program but then suddenly stopped. And that's where I am stuck. No idea what's going on.

I uninstalled Civ 5 and then installed it again. Same exact problem.

Has anyone ever seen this? Any idea what could be going wrong? Any ideas on what I should try next?

Thanks. I followed the advice in that thread with no luck.

I completely uninstalled and reinstalled Steam and Civ 5 from disc. I still get some strange errors here and there, but it is working.
