New CIV: Afrikaners

Seeing as it's Christmas, I thought I'd give you all a small present.

Name: Afrikaners
Leader: Paul Kruger
Capital: Pretoria
Chars: Religious, Expansionist
UU: Horse Commando, replaces Cavalry, 5/5/3 Zoc and Blitz

I've included full civilopedia & diplomacy texts.

Currently Kruger is represented by the Abe Lincoln leaderhead set: if I can find the time and the patience (not to mention the skill and the software...!), I'll have a go at doing some specific heads (if there's any interest, of course)

The UU animation is by Doragon (I think... ) - it's the Mountie
renamed.

Everything else is as now (except I might have changed Carthage's king unit to be Hannibal rather than Brennus as it is in the "factory" .bix file Can't remember off-hand if I've got round to doing that yet)

To install, simply unpack the Zip file into CIV3PTW\Scenarios and you're done. NB: There's only a PTW version...

EDIT: Just done a test download, and it took a shade over 3 minutes using a 56k modem. So you've got no excuse...

EDIT: Some basic leaderheads now available...
Download: krugerheads.zip (takes about 1 minute on a 56K modem - hell, I said they were basic!)

BTW why havent you used the Boer Rifleman as UU?

Isn't Microsoft Encarta World Atlas useful...! I tend to build a lot of cities, so I need a lot of names.

I was tempted, but the problem was that I wanted a mounted unit. The Boer War-era commando may often have fought dismounted (especially defensively) but they always rode there...

Polynesia is a good idea, there is already a leaderhead. Maybe you should do 7 new civs and release them as " Tweedledum´s New Civ´s Mod" that would be cool.

Why don't the Afrikaners get a Boer Settler, in other words, a Settler with a defence rating of 1 or 2?

the Polynesian civ is already done. city lists and the works. and now that the voyager canoe is done as well, it is 100% finished.

also, it is in raw format. so it will take some tinkering to get it working.

well if you did, then you,d know that i,m having a hell time with the diplotext and would have offered to help

I've finally got round to making some (basic) leaderheads for Kruger - the file is attached to the first post. I'm not sure how "good" they are, but they do for me

Actually, I didn't "forget". The mod has expanded rather a lot into one which has seven extra civs (5 with downloaded animated leaders), a whole bunch of new units and wonders and stuff - I haven't got the original bix file any more (although I suppose I could always download it ).
I was kinda assuming that everyone knows how/where to edit the existing file...

THanks for mentioning this to me on the earlier thread.

As for future civs...Polynesians are nice, but Vietnamese are better. And since we're talking Africans, why not the Ethiopians?
