This is converted from the standard Civ4 Eastern United States map. Doing the conversion it looked like some areas got messed up so I did a quick fix for it, but its likely not perfect. I have not touched the resources but there are some left over from the old civ4 map. There are no starting locations set, its basically just a raw map for scenario creators. It would work well with an American Revolution, or Civil War mod. Its 55x51 so I think that qualifies it as "small" or "medium", not exactly sure.

To use it just download and extract it to your Sid Meier's Civilization 5/Maps folder

really? a few hundred views and over 100 downloads and no comments? I really was just hoping someone would pick up the torch and make a scenario out of it. If you do so, please let me know :)

Pretty nice Map. :) Just one suggestion: How about removing some Forests? Its a bit hard to differeate between forested Hills and forestes Flatlands in Civ5. Beside that, its more easy to explore (without using scouts), if there are some Flatlands in between. But maybe this is, what you wanted?

Perhaps you can add a bit more detail to the coastlines (they're a bit too smooth right now) - Massachusetts Bay, Cape Cod, Long Island, Delaware Bay, Chesapeake Bay

The rivers around New York/New Jersey seem a bit funky too. The two main ones should be the Delaware River (which forms the shape of southwest Jersey) and the Hudson River (which should be a straight shot up New York).

yea, i would but its simply not possible unless i made the map much bigger. You do realize its size is small? This map is basically a template for someone to create a scenario out of... i really didn't do anything to it except convert it, and fix a few spots that looked really messed up, after the conversion. Mainly the great lakes and the north-east coast.

i might eventually fix some things and re-release it but really in its current state it would be ok to edit it slightly and make a scenario out of it.... which is all that i was hoping someone would do.

A few more hills, even the great plains have the odd hill here or there standing out. Also perhaps A few more mountains in the Appalachians after all there is some semi-rugged terrain there and it would make them more of a defining feature separating the east coast from the center. 250 million years ago they were higher than the Himalayas - this must be humiliating for them ;)

Maybe a tiny amount of Tundra in the far north and swamps on the east coast like the new york area, and also swamps for the Louisiana bayous/Mississippi delta and for the everglades?

also more plains going further inland - a bit too much grassland.

Overall a great map. :)

I'm sure it is missing some details here and there, thats why i mentioned its a conversion. I did not create this map. It is a map that came with civ4. I agree with all your points, but its unlikely that i fix them because this is basically for scenario creation, its not meant to be played as is. ;)

Yeah that's my bad for not reading your post properly, lol.

Would you mind if I went ahead and made some changes and then re-uploaded it? Crediting you and Firaxis of course. I wouldn't be creating a full scenario, just map editing adding resources etc.

I went and added all appropriate resources (horses included in this version) and fixed the terrain - added some extra mountains and hills, marshes, removed jungle. Also edited some forest tiles to be different continents (ie: because American forests are autumn/fall coloured as opposed to the European forest texture) for aesthetic reasons - easy to change back in the editor as i realise it could cause some weirdness with Conquistadors (which have the ability to found cities on different continents than your capital). There is no starting locations or players added yet so it's still just a map, not a scenario.
