I decided that instead of polluting dannythefool's thread about my service i should just have made a new thread like i intended from the beginning. This lets more people see it and all questions/requests/updates can be posted here :-)
http://civ5.flexd.net ![]() Recently updated to support a ton more replay types, languages and scenarioes. Currently works for about 97.31% of uploaded replays! I hope that this is of use to someone! :-) Code available here Merry Christmas! Moderator Action: Please see the following threads for two other replay viewers. Could this "Tool" be (re)created as a stand-alone OFFline asset for anyone interested?

Uh i guess. The code is hosted on github openly. All you would need is ruby, resque and mongodb. + a web server.
I am however planning on moving away from mongodb again to something like mysql/postgres as i'm not that fond of it. But yea if you have some technical skills getting it running should not be hard :-) |

Well, it's your baby project... but, i thought you'd get much more followers should this eventually become a real external asset we all could install straight on our HD.

If you want you can have a go at it. I don't even play Civ :-) There is really nothing stopping you from hosting this yourself. It's a ruby web application, if you install ruby and the required gems and servers it will run without problems.

In case anyone cares about this, the server is down right now for unknown reasons. It's hosted at my parents house so the scenarios im thinking of now is A) internet is down (first time in 5 years then), or B) the house is on fire. A connected firealarm was hooked up today so chances of fire are slim haha.
Anyway, i might just take the thing down and host it on something else because it's really not seeing much traffic. Which is because you can all do it so easily now with the other parsers available. And the fact that i haven't heard or seen so much as even a comment about it anywhere. If this is something you like and want to keep then let me know, if it's actually something people use i'll add commenting and a whole bunch of other features i have planned but not executed because of the lacking response. In any case it will be back up as soon as i figure something out, will probably be able to get out there in a few hours :-) |

I still have no clue as to why the server was down. By the time i got to where the server is at everything seemed to work as normal. There was no log issues, nothing has seemingly happened at the ISP's end. Odd stuff :-)

Just added decent pagination to the replays page so it should be a lot easier to find replays now (new ones will be at the top). Also added commenting to individual replays (figured many people wanted that!). Next up is adding decent indexing, further improve caching and add different sizes to generate!

Good news everyone! (Not really).
I found out what's been wrong with the server, apparently it's a disk that's finally died and now i'm off to fix it heh. http://flexd.net/post/3182058087/server-fault This is leaving me with a horrible uptime score on that webservice. I will try to get things up and running today and if i can't i will get stuff up and running on a VPS. Sadly without all the stored replays. Hopefully it's not the main drive that has died :-) |

My server suffered a catastrophic failure yesterday and i won't be able to restore the service until i can get it sorted.. I have some virtual machines i'll try to setup to host this thing but i can't promise much.
It would mean a lot to me if anyone actually replied and said they would like the service to stay up. Otherwise I might just forget about fixing it and go outside to enjoy the nice weather :-) |

Good news. I just got my replacement server of awesomeness, I will try to set it up and get stuff working pronto. It's in the wrong location at the moment, but I might just be able to host things from here for a while. At the very least I have the database backed up and everything should be good.
Edit Good to know that at least someone cares. I haven't had a single positive reply on this service, and there are multiple ways of telling me! Last edited by flexd; Apr 20, 2011 at 01:02 PM. |

The service is just about ready to go back up again. I hope not too many people have forgotten it, seeing as there are no alternatives I guess people will come back
![]() It's working fine on the server and everything is good, I just need to arrange for it to be available from the outside :-) |

Everything is online, I just need to get it accessable from IPv4. Waiting on someone (the server owner) to fix, will probably happen tomorrow. I was going to ask now but turns out it's 3 am here.. I didn't notice
![]() For those of you on IPv6 it should be available at http://civ5.flexd.net now, IPv4 will happen as soon as possible :-) |

Sorry about the delay, I have to talk to a friend hosting these virtual machines, and he is not online at the moment. I can't really complain as he's giving me three virtual machines for free.
As soon as he's not busy and back online it will be back, it's really just down to adding three lines to a varnish config :-) |
