Rat 42 - CCM Heading to the Moon

It is time to get through the entire CCM tech tree and head for the moon. Goal in this game will be to reach the end of the tech tree as fast as possible.

Hence, deity is chosen for the difficulty level to spice up the AI. Tech trading will be crucial until the start of the Industrial Age when tech trading is no longer available.

There are a few things that we need to discuss:

- which civilization do we chose to play with (I would prefer a scientific nation)
- which map type do we play on (we want to give some AI's some breathing space but we want battles too + fast tech speed)

As for maps, I actually tend for pangaea as well as it suits the above best.

We could start the game while we still fight through the remainder of the other game as they can play very differently (and this one should be faster)

So guys, we need some input about the map type, civilization to play and confirmation of the remainder of participants.

I don't have the game at hand now, so I can't check which of the nations are scientific in CCM. Maybe someone can check it out.
 
Since another of our objectives in this game is to get some use out of the wealth of WWII units in CCM, we should play as one of the major combatants in that war. Conveniently, America, Germany, and Russia are all scientific. I'd choose Germany, to start with WC and build Slaver's Hut almost immediately.
 
Germany sounds like a good choice, I like their starting techs too, as one can immediately build the slavers hut.

Would we want to aim for the Great Library or rather get into a tech broker position?
 
Well, since the game won't be AW, the normal play would be to rely on brokering. That worked well at DG two games ago. Are we concerned that the move up to deity will change the position fundamentally?
 
I'd vote for taking the tech broker role. We used the GL in the last game, and I'd like to go a different route in this one.

For tribe, Germany sounds fine.
 
I did play a sid game recently and didn't need the GLib at all. Tech pace is fast and the GLib expires very early anyway.

However, crucial will be to take out nearby AI's to expand our tech base so we are in a good tech position by the time we hit the Industrial Age.
 
I find that GLB is not much use at deity, it is very useful at Sid. Not sure how any of that plays in CCM and not tried it with 31 in the game.
 
vmxa, I take it that you join us as well?

Anyway, I have a late meeting today so I won't be starting this until tomorrow evening. So we can discuss the first 20 moves.

I plan to settle the capital and start the slavers hut right away. Use the second city for workers house and produce some cheap warriors for scouting and MP duty.

What shall we research since we do not want the GLib? The wheel for free chariots? Writing for scientists?

And btw, which sort of government are we aiming in this game for that is not purely a warmonger game? Still monarchy? Republic?

I'm currently playing a CCM DG game as Germany,so I think I'll lurk on this one.

so we got one more opening for someone who is able to play deity, anyone?

I checked and I think we got a few options for the opening.

Go for min research on iron working and try to broker early
Go for max research on either wheel, writing or iron working.

Any opinions?
 
btw someone else could start with 20 turns today, then I can take this game after that? who wants to start?
