I know there have been many complaints on how the Civilization series has recently taken a new approach to appease mainstream gamers. While I for the most part agreed with this (when comparing Civ 5 to civ 4), I never understood the extent of the influence Civilization now has on the younger, more mainstream (mostly) console gamers. That is until I read some of the posts on the Civilization facebook page.

I fear for the future of my beloved Civilization series. :(

Oh god...

"xbox, xbox, xbox"

"I wish this game was also available for XBOX! :("

"Come out with another Civ for Xbox 360!! Civ Revolution was awesome!!! Where's the sequel???"

No, don't listen to the lies...

I guess they could produce Civ Rev series (2,3 etc) for consoles and Civ 6,7 etc for pc only. I guess they would make money on both cases then. Problem solved.

Development costs would be twice as much. Producing what some would see as a happy medium between the two is cheaper for essentially the same gain.

I suspect it's more likely to go pad than console next. When your game's main interface is a map, touch interaction is ... rather handy!

Oh no! It's people entitled to their opinion! What are those idiots at Fireaxis going to do next, plug their ears to the more deserving civ elite and let the inferior race take charge? They're doing this just to make money... I don't think smart businesses should do that.

Duh! Of course they are "doing this to make money." What else is there as far as a game COMPANY is concerned? They are going to put in effort where the money is and many of the "elite" are on record here as saying they think they were robbed, want their money back, want to file a class action lawsuit, will never preorder another game, think this game is junk, and on and on and on and on...

I am just happy that there is money to support continued development and that they are continuing to develop.

CivRev is already available for the ipad.

I hope they continue the Civilization series for the PC and CivRev for consoles. I don't think trying to meet in the middle is a great idea. I know some say that that's what Civ5 is, but really, as someone who's played both games quite a lot, it isn't.

Yeah, it feels like another dimension to me.

Now I feel old and dumped on the roadside. Xbox, PS3... Seriously, PC anyone? Anyone?
:old::(

I feel like Civ 5 is more streamlined, its a lot simpler to do stuff and figure out whats causing what where. It have taken some of the complexity out but I don't mind, it still takes skill to win

i dont mind if they come out with civ rev 2 for the xbox and ps3, I liked civ rev for what it was it was fun playing in hd on my tv. As for civ rev 2.0 they allready released it for pc.

lol if you scroll down some guy suggest making the new one have only a domination win option.

My statement was sarcastic. Don't attack something in your defense.

This is a nightmare.

No just make 2 one where you can blow stuff up and it is cartoony but make the pc version to

You can make it even better than the other one. make it bigger.. more technologies man. its a video game make up future stuff...

xbox, xbox, xbox

do yal got any new games coming to consoles like ps3 or xbox

I have a new idea for a mod.. or a patch which ever. anyway. there should be a building called a casino. it increases commernce by 30% or something. Also a wonder called The Strip. you must have a casino in all cities and it increases money by 100% in that city

These should be compiled in a list called "100 greatest Facebook quotes".

I think the best one so far is "xbox, xbox, xbox"!

I played hundreds of games of Civ 4 and still have difficulty winning above Noble level.

I haven't lost a Civ 5 game, yet and I've played on multiple levels.

I have to say that I'm astonished to think that these sentences were made by real people and not a spam bot or sth.
I mean "do yal got any new games coming to consoles like ps3 or xbox" WTH???

Anyway, my mental self-defense system kicked in and now I'm treating it all like a Monty Python episode :)

Whenever you feel annoyed about this, just think about Gumbys:

The idea of main-franchise Civ hitting consoles doesn't seem *terrible* to me, but I wouldn't want it unless they did what some MMO's for consoles have done - all but require keyboard and mouse support. I personally don't think Civ V was actually watered down as much as many of you claim and rather see it as a spectrum shift to more place more emphasis on complex combat which is made to look worse by problematic AI, but consoles aren't without some fairly compelling games not made for a more twitch-happy audience. Civ could be one of them.

It all depends on the design philosophy they go into it with. As it stands, it seems more likely to me that they just keep Civ Rev and Civ proper as two separate franchises, and don't blend them.

Wondered it myself, wanted to check them directly on FB, and can't find them. Do i have to be logged in, or so, to see them?
