Athens, since I think Greece and the Mediterranean is cool. Rome and maybe some of the other Italian cities come close. I would've chosen Istanbul/Constantinople/Byzantium if it was actually in the EU. :mischief:

Well I've only been to London and I think that is my least favourite place on the face of the Earth. Can I vote for the other 24?

I've been to Rome, Munich and Athens and very briefly Naples. I've been to Birmingham Alabama but I suppose that doesn't count. My favorite would be Rome followed by Munich very closely. I like Greece but Athens is not my favorite city. It does have some great food.

I have been to many of these cities. Whereas i have lived in London for 3 years, and sadly at 1,5 million my own birthplace is not in the list, i would tend to think that of the ones in the poll Budapest has made the biggest impression on me.
I was only there for a few days though, when i was 14. I still recall how dark and gloomy everything appeared to be, and not less so the extremely impressive gothic Parliament house.

That said, if the vote was on where one could actually live, i would have voted for London (no, i would not want to live in Athens, it is probably the ugliest city in Greece).

Unfortunately, I have never traveled outside of the U.S. but Barcelona, Prague, Athens and Warsaw are the ones I'm the most interested in.

I consider myself to be well travelled person, especially within Europe, but I see now that I need to stop loitering the countryside and aim for the big cities.

Edit: My choice from the cities on the list that I have visited would probably be Lyon or London.

London, but Munich during Oktoberfest was pretty great. :)

Bucharest should be removed from the poll out of principle. It's just a very large festering poop hole. (same goes for Sofia :p - and Warsaw because it's in eastern europe and fails in general :D)

I agree with Heretic about Bucharest. But Warsaw is kinda nice, even if a bit run down. Amsterdam is just such a nice and cute place. It's like something out of a kid's book (or a kid's book gone wild, depending on which way you're looking at it). Cologne is a bit of a dank hole and Marseille seems almost eastern European (only really a bad thing when it's not meant to be so). Munich is too kitsch and Paris is too dirty. Rome's a bit that way as well. London is just drab. Berlin and Vienna are pretty good, but I think Budapest takes the cake. Charmingly eastern European (complete with killer escalators) whilst still being nice and modern.

That all sounded a bit too negative; they're all nice*. But Budapest is, in its own way, nicest than the rest.

*Except Bucharest

Prague or Barcelona? Barcelona wins on beaches, peaches and football I guess. I also like Vienna and Hamburg. Too bad Copenhagen and Stockholm are too small, both are awesome cities.

woo let's go misplaced senses of patriotism

(+München)

Prague all the way.
