Any ideas what the next patch or DLC will be?

Well, I certainly don't have any ideas as to what it could be. I'd love to discuss what I wish they would implement.

An improved artificial intelligence would definitely be welcomed, and I would enjoy a few more free civilizations like maybe the Israelites, a few more Amerinds, and an African civilization.

I am thinking Vikings, they were in the trailer, and they were pretty darn important in history.

Other civs I'd like to see would be Portugal, Netherlands, Khmer, and the Mayans, but none of those seem likely.

Many important Civs are still missing like the Zulu and Portugal. And I'm still raging that they made Spain, one of the most important European civs, a crappy DLC.

OCCUPYING SAME LOCATION
Holy Roman Empire (france, rome, germany)
Byzantine Empire (greece, ottomans)
Mali (songhai)
Khmer (siam)
Hittite (ottomans)
Sumeria (babylon)
Celts (other european civs)

POSSIBLE NEW CIVS
Portuguese
Vikings/Scandinavia
Dutch
Zulu
Ethiopian
Carthaginian
Mayan
Native American
Austria/Austria-Hungary
Indonesia/Majapahit/Srivijaya
Poland/Poland-Lithuania

Here are a list of major world civilizations that haven't been included yet, some were in past games. The first list is civs which occupied the same geographical location (at a different time in history) as one or two of the current civs, for instance the Byzantines occupied the same location as Greece and the Ottomans, and the Holy Roman Empire's unique unit from CIV IV was even given to Germany this time around; the Landsnecht.

The Carthaginians once occupied Spain,
The Mayans once occupied the Aztec's land,
Germany has overlapped Poland,
Native Americans, depending on the tribe, have overlapped the Iroquois
And the Egyptians have slightly overlapped Ethiopia.
Overlaps are pretty hard to dodge.

2k Greg or Dennis wrote that next patch is A.I. and diplo, and listed other stuff for the future, can't remember what but one of the most interesting one was "Civ unique differences" or something like that.

Maybe that means new or tuned abilities, or new UUs and UBs etc.

I see the coming GOTY edition as a sign that the first wave of one-civ DLC has ended and there'll be a "proper" expansion later this year with new buildings, units and old/new game concepts like espionage and corporations, vassal states and such.
There really needs some option to "pacyify" a civ without obliterating it. I mean I conquer half their empire, they sue for peace, give me half their resources, bankrupt themselves with tribute payments and then denounce me the very next turn. Bit suicidal.
Also corporations would be one way to make use of excess resources when there's no available trade partner or nobody uses iron any more. There's a lot of not-warfare stuff that can be expanded upon in this game.

Considering that a guy with Steam contacts mentioned Polynesia (before), Denmark and Korea as next DLC, and that there was a fuzz some time ago about an entry in Wikipedia about Korea as Civ nation...

Does somebody want to guess the date?

well, if the guy said korea, it's possible, especially if they just did some localization work for them...but i'm not too sure they'll be doing too many more dlc's after the game of the year edition. at least not until after an expansion. as for patches, on the other hand, may sounds reasonable.

It's from the 2k Forums, I'll try to dig it out.

Stuff about Civ unique differences is from the big post/announcement about future priorities for Civ V that Dennis Shirk(?) wrote this march.

About the next patch being about diplo and AI, I can't recall, I hope it's not just something I read another forum user writing about..

I think the door is also open to add new leaders to existing civs. Leader traits are independent from unique units and buildings ...

Think of all the "missing" leaders for current civs ... Lincoln, FDR, Victoria, Churchill, DeGaulle, Joan of Arc, Julius Caesar, Peter, Uncle Joe, Pericles ... i could go on.

The real issue here is coming up with "rule-bending" leader abilities that are interesting, useful, and reasonably balanced.
