Here's my first conversion pack from my poll thread.

All buildings are conversions of Civ 4 buildings done by Walter Hawkwood which are in turn conversions from the game Anno 1404.

Thanks mate. Hope they can be of use to you.

Hey does anyone know if mosques are/were built with only one mineret? I was under the impression they always have four. I'm not sure how historically accurate these buildings are but they look nice and generally plausible.

EDIT: I just looked it up and it appears the number of minerets can vary depending on the size of the mosque.

minaret exists only for ease of the muezzin . While it was tough to climb all the steps to the top he could have a clear field for his call to prayer , the ezan . You can have a mosque or mescid without one , with one , two or 4 according to artistic taste of the guy who has the building built . One Mosque in Istanbul has 6 and the Sultan who had it built ordered a seventh minaret added to Kabe in Mecca .

for accuracy they look good to this non-expert , though ı would have doubts about the existence of statues in the geographic area for quite a long time . But that still does not detract anything from the nice work here .

Thanks guys. I'm thinking for my next set I should make some of the buildings smaller in relation to the background. With these ones I basically just made the buildings just small enough to fit on the backfround. I now realise that they actually look better if they are smaller in relation to the background, especially if they are supposed to be a small building like a house. Also, I need to place things more isometrically. Some of these ones look a bit weird.

Nick, question for you. Kyriakos' cities have got me tinkering around in gimp. Is it possible to copy these into gimp, and turn them into cities? They look really good.

agonistes, it certainly is. The method I use is simple. You just have to open the civ 4 nif file in a programme called NifSkope, arrange it they way you want and then take a screenshot and cut 'n' paste to GIMP. You can then arrange all the buildings into a city however you see fit. The original buildings are 3d models so can be positioned from any angel.

It can be a bit tricky to get it to look nice. I made my Dwarven city set in a similar way. If you want to have a go I'd be happy to give you some advice.

I had thought about doing this myself but I thought it wasn't that necessary as we have Kyriakos' beautiful medieval Islamic city set already.
