[FIXED] Autosaves in wrong map (special characters in accountname)

An old problem is back since today (29-3-2011). Yesterday it was working properly. It has something to do with special characters in the windows accountname, which is 'André' in my case.

The problem:
Autosaves are created in the map "C:\Documents and Settings\Andr\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Saves"
instead of
"C:\Documents and Settings\André\My Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\Saves"

When you want to load (or manually save) a game it is using the correct path. However, when the game autosaves it uses the wrong path. So when you want to load an autosave you have a problem: you don't see any autosave.

Yesterday it was working properly. Today it isn't. Current version: 1.01.221. Yesterday an update of CivV has been released to add Korean language support. Probably this update has introduced this bug.

Any suggestions to fix this are welcome. But maybe I have to go back to the workaround of a similar problem that was there in the release version of civ5 that couldn't cope with special characters in the windows accountname by creating an account name without special characters.

The user name of one of the computers I'm using contains a special character (an "ó") and a space as well. For me, there are no autosaves, and the older autosaves were wiped from the hard drive. Even with a full search I was unable to locate any autosaves.

Verify and deleting all Civ 5 content from the "My Games" didn't solved the problem, so my guess is that we have a similar problem - seems like the Korean patch caused some problems for people who are using non-default characters in their user names. (More than half of Europe :) )

I have not been playing for a month but '' came back'' yesterday and encountered a strange problem. The game just wont do any autosave anymore.
No initial save not any other save, and resetting settings and restarting game did not help either...

Any further ideas maybe?

thanks

Thank you very much, this is indeed my problem.
My name is Renée.... same issue as yours!

now off to find a suitable solution!

bump!
Same issue here.
I suppose the problem is also in civ 5 ui since we cannot choose our savfile directory to easily fix this issue. (or blame Korean language)
Now the only real solution I see is reinstalling fame in another, proper folder.

As a workaround I have made a new windows account without any special characters (Civfanatic ;)). When I want to play civ I use that account. There is no need to reinstall. Just find the launcher for Civ5 somewhere in the Steam folder and make a shortcut while logged in with this second account.

An user on the german boards has also a problem with his autosaves, but he claims that he doesn't have any "special characters" in his windows username .

A special character in the path for the autosave map does the trick. It could also be the computername or another mapname.
