Q: Okay... what in the world is this?

A: It's a TV show called "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic".

Q: ... What.

A: It's a really good TV Show. Let me tell you-

Q: HAHAHA-no. How can you even say that seriously, I mean REALLY?

A: The show as headed by the same person who made the Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends. I don't think I have to tell you that those shows were good-

Q: Screw it, I hated those shows. And this show-how can you even defend it? I mean to like this show you must be girly as hell. Like you'd need to be all the embodiments of gay combined.

A: Well if you could throw your silly fears of doing things your brofriends hate, you might see that this show is actually good.

Q: Oh please how could this show be any good?! And don't throw any names around I don't care for that .

A: There are really a lot of reasons why this show is so good. It's animation style has more depth than that of most modern cartoons. The episodes are longer than most cartoons, ditching plot setup and having more character development. The show focuses on fleshing out the characters. The animation is top-notch flash, and has little details that you might not catch on your first view. And it doesn't constantly hammer morals in.

Q: I still think it's crap.

Seriously though, you should give this a try. The first episode isn't really that great, IMHO, but it does provide the backstory, which is, you know, kind of important.

Please put specific discussion in spoilers for those who haven't seen it yet.

First recommendation: whether you get the Hub on cable TV or watch it online, it's really worth it to see the show in higher definition. iirc could throw in something about vector graphics here but again, you'd see the difference.

Nice work on an OP, I was too lazy and didn't feel there was interest to make one on my own and then it wouldn't compare to other active threads on some other sites. (for the record that's neither SA nor [redacted] though I can't help but find it absolutely hilarious that those notorious sites actually banned ponies, too good and pure for them) Could help shore up any suggestions though, maybe throw in the introductions/bios of the mane cast

Yeah you're really in luck then, having a legitimate excuse to watch the show and really it's probably loads better than any other kids show you'd find. Even if you don't like it that much it will surely be funny and enjoyable enough.

I'm always on the lookout for shows for my daughter to watch that aren't crap.

Right now the only one I've seen that I haven't thought was crap was a Candidian cartoon based on the Little Bear books.

There's a lot of Canadian influence of the production team of Friendship is Magic iirc. But I can't stress enough how many light years

better this is than so much else not just in cartoons but on TV overall.

I was already curious about all those pony avatars, until I discovered this thread. I really thought this was the worst thing I've ever seen. How could you like a show intended for little girls? But I didn't want to judge a book by it's cover, and decided to just go and watch an episode.
It started as I expected, "some kind of story where the goodies win and the baddies lose". But when the episode started, I couldn't find anything bad about it. Actually, the animation was very good, the scenes were very detailed, the voices weren't bad at all, definetely better than what I expected, the show was quite good, and I continued, watching ep. 2.
At that point I didn't really know whether I liked it, or just found it a good show.
After ep. 3, I knew I liked it, and I watched them all in less than 24 hours...
