The Norsemen - A Story of the Vikings

"If you think of your destination, you shall be showered with gold. If you think of that gold, you shall be put to death by your own country, and sometimes the men working for you. Remember the destination." ~Mjorkin

Chapter 1: The Thing

Norsemen have been traveling around, wandering, not sure where to go but the fjords they are already in. A portion of these people called themselves 'Norwegians' and took it upon themselves to build a palace for the fist king, King Svein. Around this palace was the port city of Nidaros. A second group of people called 'Swedes' fled the wrath of King Svein and built a palace for their king, King Erik. Around this palace was the port city of Stockholm. The third group of Norseman, called 'Danes', fled to a new land, off the peninsula the Norwegians and Swedes are on. This new land, called Denmark, was out of the reach of King Svein. The Danes settled the city of Kjøbenhaven without a king. After 80 years, King Svein and King Erik had died. Neither kings had a proper heir to the throne. The Swedes met with the Danes for an important meeting. This meeting was called 'The Thing'. Norwegians joined The Thing after a new religion, called 'Christianity' spread into Norway. Christianity spread into Denmark ten years later. Soon after, another group of Swedes fled Norway to found the city of Arjplog (spelling?) to escape the Christians spreading trouble for the pagans. Now that the three states united, the 'Viking Civilization' had begun!

Burn the Anglos! Burn the Anglos!

Perhaps... I'll think about it. Maybe once I get at least 5 Berserkers? (So far I have two axemen waiting to be upgraded - one in Nidaros, one in Copenhagen)

This looks interesting so far.

If you're playing BTS be sure to prepare for when the Netherlands pops up and try to claim your mainland European city.

Don't worry - I have a plan.

I have decided to make a chapter to describe why I will be invading the British Isles:

Chapter 2: The Acts of Norway

Norway has been building up tensions with Sweden. The next meeting of The Thing, Norway demanded their independence from the Viking Empire. Sweden and Denmark decided no. However, Denmark wrote a law for the Vikings to follow;

-States shall never be disobedient to The Thing.
-Danes have all land on their peninsula, or any land south they desire.
-Norwegians have all land west of the Norwegian coastline.
-Swedes have all land east of their current land area.
-Invasions of foreign lands shalt have armies from all states.
-Any disputes or invasions of other states shall result in both representatives to fall off the face of the Earth.
-The Thing now shalt have meetings in all lands, not just Denmark.

These laws were to settle arguments. These laws were called the Acts of Norway. Sweden called the land it gained 'The Land of the Rus'. Norway, however, wasn't sure what to do. England, a small country rising from the ashes of the city 'Inverness' the early Normans had destroyed, was growing larger. Norway must complete an invasion, and fast.

Great to see another story :goodjob: especially from your high standard, trexeric.

How big is the Thing?

Now? Just three representatives. One from each area.

Settle Finland, especially Helsinki!

Maybe later in the game. My goals now are to raze England and settle Vinland.

Chapter 3: Preparation for WAR

Erik Bloodaxe. The most ruthless jerk that ever walked the face of the known Earth. The Thing had decided Erik would be the new general for the invasion of England. Iron was being mined by the citizens of Arjeplog. This Iron would fuel the army with weapons like axes. As many boats and warriors as possible were needed.

This was 1000 AD. Erik Bloodaxe was already 40 years old. By 1040, he had died. His grandson, Cnut Bloodaxe, took control of the army. Cnut crammed as many warriors he could into two longboats, and took of for England. It was 1090, and Cnut was still just 53 years old. The invasion force was split into two sections. One force will attack London, the other Scotland. Once these lands are attacked, they will destroy the rest of England together. On top of this, reenforcement troops are still being trained in the homeland.

Chapter 4: The War of the Islands

The war began. Cnut led the London invasion, and son Erik III, the Scotland invasion. Erik quickly took Scotland, for it was not at all defended. Cnut's army, however, marched toward Manchester. With Erik's army, Manchester was destroyed. The duel army marched to London. Reenforcements soon arrived. Together, they destroyed London. Years past, and only one city was left, Plymouth. Plymouth had a very large Army, consisting of twenty thousand pikemen and thirty thousand longbowmen. In 1100, Cnut died. One hundred years later, the English went into civil war. Plymouth, however, was still standing. In 1250, Erik's great grandson, Mjorkin, led a force to capture and destroy Plymouth. The entire army was wiped out. Plymouth remained under Irish control. Mjorkin was sentenced to death. What better way than to fall off the end of the Earth?

p.s. I'm building a settler in Arjeplog to build Helsinki.

Why did you raze those citys? SETTLE ENGLAND!

I don't live in a city anyway :p

And if England is destroyed, Canada wouldn't be settled, you would not be born either Yoshi.

(Yes, France settled Canada too)

Well, um..... look a bird!

Actually, America would own Canada. Because France would settle Canada and America, when America rebelled, we all know what would the French armies would do.
