After several patches, I'd like to check up on this game and see whether it's worth buying in its current state--or whether I need to wait a few more patches. More specifically, I am wondering about two initial problems that kept me away for a long time:
1. Lag: Is the horrendous lag between turns still an issue? I am a large+ map and Marathon game player, so I can't imagine I'd want to play if there are still 1+ minute lags in large+ map games from medieval era or so onward.
2. AI: Has the AI been improved to the point where it can give an experienced Civilization player a modicum of challenge in non-Deity levels (that is, without mega-cheating)? From what I've perused earlier, the AI can't even maneuver a mid-sized army. In the Demo version, I recall AI units were completely unresponsive to danger: For instance, a melee unit would just sit and take a pounding from an un-supported ranged unit and die--rather than attacking or running away
