Game ignores civ selection on custom maps

If you want to load a custom map/scenario that you've created via worldbuilder, and you want buildings or cities or units that you've placed on the map (ie, for jumping into a game that is taking place in the industrial era at turn 0), you need to load it via the mods>setup new game menu (which has been annoying since day 1 but I digress).

The problem now is, you MUST be "Player 1" on the worldbuilder map. Whatever civ is assigned to the Player 1 position, is the one you will be ingame; if the Player 1 spot (in worldbuilder) is Random, your civ is randomly chosen, even if you selected Russia... and if the Player 1 spot (in worldbuilder) is set as India and you choose to play as America, you will load up the game playing as India.

This probably related to the broken worldbuilder bug I posted!

I have an error on Civ5 that only allows me to play as the first faction in a given mod. In the LEM11 Mod it is America and in TSL mod it is Arabia.

Regardless of which faction i select, whenever i start the game the first faction in the alphabet is always selected.

Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?

Well maybe that mod is meant to be played as America and Arabia respectively.

Have you tried using Advanced options to manually set your civ?

That does work, but then i lose all the start locations.

The strange thing is that it actually allows to to select other civilizations, but then when it goes to the loading screen a different civilization is selected...

i've got a big problem in loading scenarios...which makes me endlessly meet washington at the loading screen:crazyeye:
no matter which civ i choose before start the game, it'll be changed to Washington.
it first appeared at the "Legendary Earth Mod (LEM)"
and later i found for all map which have "load scenario" option, it has the same problem.
i tried modifying maps by WorldBuilder, and when i deleted America from the scenario, it became always Arab:sad:
does any one have the same problem or who can give me a solution?
many thanks

The new patch broke the mods - apparently this happens every time. I understand the mod makers typically have updated versions up within a few days.

so all of you guys have the same problem?
after select " load scenario", any chosen civ will turn to the first one in Alphabetical order given by scenario
even a new map generated by WorldBuilder has this problem, so long as it has the "load scenario" option.

Not everybody is enlightened in the subject as you are, perhaps you could just shower us with your brilliant experience, then ppl like us wouldn't whine as much?

I have VERY little experience with mods, so any information is welcome.

So does a patch break ALL mods or just a few, things like that.

Thank you J, so much easier to understand now.

And the rule of thumb, hmmm... Will it break EVERY mod or will the stat one still work? I havn't dled that yet, but I love stats. I've been thinking of dling it for weeks, but been waiting for the patch.

This rendered my earth mod completely useless. No matter what civ I choose, I get assigned Arabia (player 1 as you say).

as it says, no matter what i do i can only play as the 1st party in a game, i can choose rome, i get russia, i can choose greece, i get russia, i could choose germany, i get russia... goddamit i thought this game was finally working like it should and lo and behold something new is wrong... it kills because i dont know if this will be fixed soon as the new patch just came out and i dont know if they will put out another any time soon to address this issue, it is a game breaker!

I've experienced the same thing, I had to go back into SDK and change the civ I wanted to first player.

This is a World Builder map as scenario problem. We've fixed it, and will have the fix out shortly.
