NukeNes Wiki-Under Construction!
Update 7: have your orders in by Saturday, September 7th at the latest
Purpose: To create an alternative world, showing the evolution of cultures into nation states, science, and other progress of this world. I am contemplating turning it into a more “traditional” nes at a later date, probably with the development of nation states around 1500 or 1600, or maybe keeping it in a vein similar to my hero, the glorious highland cow DaftPanzer. But we'll get there when the time comes. In either case, the game should be fun. Trial and Error
How to play: Simple! Pick a (Preferred) color, and Create a culture like this:
Culture Name: Abba
Core Value: Tradition
Location: Ethiopia
Aggression: 1
Expansion: 1
Cohesion: 5
Agriculture: 4
Sophistication: 4
Nation Names: Keoy-et, Abay-et, Roy-et, Okay-et, Kish-et
City Names: Lay-An-Au-Shek, Ribbaya-Shek, Ziy-Shek, Tjia-Shek, Oijk-Shek
Ruler Names: Inya, Aya, Kono, Iro, Ito
Description: The Abba are a culture with a rich history and developed values. They are led by a strong central figure who controls the aspects of his or her domain. Smaller Abba Chiefdoms are usually a large extended family, and their slaves, plus allies who can no longer sustain independence on their own. Sheks (cities) are ruled by their Prii, the head of a powerful family, who control the city plus surrounding farmlands. Particularly powerful Prii may have a chieftain or two pledging allegiance to them. Though some Prii are strong enough to remain independent, most pledge allegiance to the Eros, the mortal descendent of the Sun God. The Abba people are dark skinned, men and women are equal, farming and fishing are their most important sectors of their nation, and are a mix of Ethiopian and a more stable feudal Europe.
Name: What your culture name will be, you can use real cultures or fake, though I encourage imagination! Or Not!
Core Value: Your choice of one of three; Tradition, Honor, or Liberty. Though they will not have a major impact on the stats themselves, this is a defining value of your people. Will they be a people dedicated to creating vast, yet short lived Empires? Will they be small kingdoms known for the wonders of architecture they have created? Will they be a people who can be destined for glory if not for the constant bickering between petty factions? Who knows, but here’s where you begin that decision.
“Tradition” is for cultures that are smaller but focused and efficient. They will be more cohesive than others, but less aggressive and expansionist. They are conservative and will be slower to change, possibly even violently resisting radical change, but for the most part, they are a pillar of stability.
“Liberty” is for cultures that are further spread out. They seek to leave their homes in form of colonizers, merchants, settlers, and more. They love expansion of their culture and ideals, but they prefer to not do it through war, and the many conflicting opinions and interests prevents a more cohesive nation and culture. Also, Liberty prevents your culture from accepting (though not necessarily from having) a more despotic government. Still, Liberty gives benefits to the development of the nation in form of providing great thinkers, though it comes at the cost of stability.
“Honor” is for cultures that are focused on the glory of their people. They are likelier to go to war, but at the same time, they can be cohesive. However, stability is directly translated from success, and without it, the people of the culture will drift away to new leaders who can bring it.
Location: Where you at?
Civilization influences: You are limited to a total of 15 “civilization points”; These may be distributed as you like among the five categories of Aggression, Expansion, Cohesion, Agriculture and Sophistication. Each category must have a number between 1 and 5. A brief guide to these values is below.
Aggression: How likely your people will try to conquer other nations. Higher aggression will mean bigger and stronger armies. That is, if you have an agricultural base to sustain it, and your army doesn’t falter apart. Influenced by Honor
Expansion: How your people will expand peacefully, through trade, exploration, and settling new land. Large nations risk being fragmented and conquered, but it’s a well known fact that size can overwhelm. Influenced by Liberty
Cohesion: How likely your people will fall under one banner. Very important if you want to sustain your empire. Ancient Egypt was highly cohesive. Ancient Sumerians was highly un cohesive. Influenced by Tradition
Agriculture: How well developed your agriculture is. High agriculture means high populations, which means big armies and big(?) economies
Sophistication: How developed your culture is. High sophistication leads to new theories of government, better education, more actions to be taken, ect. Not to be underestimated
Names are for use on the map, and for the update
Description: Let us know about your people! Are they city states or a horde? Are the men or women dominant? Are they light skinned or dark? Anything you feel is good, let us know
Stories are awesome, and CAN get you non stat related bonuses
Sample Orders for Turn one:
Culture: Abba
Priorities: Try to find a better alternative to stone weaponry, begin building temples to the Sun God
Special thanks to
Luckymoose, Immaculate, and TheLizardKing for listening me pitch the idea and help improve it
Cuivenien for the Civilization points concept (That’s where I got it from anyway)
DaftPanzer for being Daftpanzer
And as always, Mr. Lord Iggy
