This thread is mean to provide Bernie (or any other graphist who want to contibute) with pics of musketmen.
The goal is to get ethnic musketmen in general and napoleonic infantry in particular.

Most wanted napoleonic line infantry and grenadiers from :

France
England
Austria
Russia
Prussia

French line infantry from 1815 :

French old Guard from 1815 :

Holland and Belgien : Line infantry 1815 Waterloo

Prussian : Line Infantry 1815 Waterloo

thanks for the pics and all further contributions welcome!!

fortunately, i have recently been able to come across the ENTIRE collection of "Osprey, Men-at-Arms", so i got some darn good referance pics....

i will start working on hulfgar's list as time permits :)

ok, i started working on the first french line infantry.....need to get some feedback....

just a prototype, still got some paint, vertex assignments and UV mapping to do.....on the upside, this WILL use MUSKETMAN animations!!!, so there will be a new template (although there is not much difference between musket, minuteman and rifle)

questions.....

1) is the shako the right size?, looks a little odd but cant get a handle on what to change....

2) the plume looks a little odd, i cant figure out how to use alpha transparency in these gr2 files ...i still plan to use a big feather in an imperial guard model....so

should i just make this one a pom-pom?
or leave as is.....

any other comments, critiques, suggestions truly apperciated.....

i will be going out of town next week (no modding ), but i will be able to check and leave comments.....

For a Japanese Musketman, you could use the Oda Arquebusier from the Civ III extras.

On the French Line Infantry, the feather does look a bit odd, though my knowledge is a bit shoddy on Napoleonic era fashion.

Hi Bernie,

this unit looks very good.

What I would suggest :

make the feather 50% shorter, keep this length for the officer.

No sword for the troop, one for the officer.

The troop had a sheath for the bayonet.

The shako looks ok, but the eagle doesn't sit right on it.

Back to the sword :

Every grenadiers from the guard had a "small" saber (smaller than an officer's saber).

Let me just say, this is great work you are doing.
I am currently designing an East Indies scenario.
These musket men are just what I am looking for to add to the visuals in my scenario.
If you wold like to help, please click on the scenario link in my signature.

the french are done, germans soon to follow :).....

prussians are HERE....russians close, then the brits

brits are done HERE, russians later today or monday at the latest....

plans to still do austro-hungarians, dutch and spanish....

any others?

Perhaps something for Arabia, Egypt and Turkey.
You could use those picts of Mameluks from the year 1801.

But I would say give them a whole turban instead of this mix of turban / shako (the mameluk in this pict is from the french army).

russians are done HERE, austrians soon to follow....

WOW, i love these!

Are there any scenarios using this units?

dont know....these units were requested by killmeplease and Hulfgar :)

the austrians AND dutch are HERE

i will be doing the english rifleman next, then back here to finish up the spanish, danes and ottomans
