It seems Korea is very good for early REX.

When you build settlers in you CAP you can set all citizen to 'unemployed' getting OK production and great science. (8 science for a pop 4 cap)
Starvation is not an issue when building settlers.

When you have some new cities, in turns of unhappiness you can ‘unemploy’ every citizen, and build settlers in some cities for even more science.

I was able to get fast SCI lead in deity with this tactic. (Liberty settler, then 4 more settler)

This way you can also build your lib+nat coll when it is really count.

Building a settler for a huge city is also a way to produce more SCI. For a 30 pop city if you ‘unemploy’ everyone who is not a specialist you can get about 40+sci. (80 is rationalism gives +2 for unemployed, have not tried that yet)

And no starvation due building the settler. This gives more SCI than building science (and a settler if you might need it :))

I got multiple DOW tough because of rexing, but archers can take care of that. And for 5 city you will almoset surely have some iron.

Interesting :). Definitely takes full advantage of that city cannot starve while building a settler bug. In fact you can probably just continually build / delete settlers and power through things with that 80 free base science.

Yes, however it should be considered an exploit imho. (but i also considered RA blocking as an exploit :))

I have tried go tall to compare the results, and I have found that Korea is not really good for that.

There is no advantage in the beginning at all, almost any civ is better imho.

what about the boost from building science buildings/wonders? I played a game with them and found going tall and building the Great Library and National College put me on an extremely fast path to education.

I agree with that. I might try it for fun but would hardly consider it a viable tactic. It's clearly not an intentional one.

I'm not really sure I agree with this though. My games as Korea have been very effective. They are 1 of 2 civs that can use the GL for a medieval tech on Deity, for example, as they can use their early tech boosts to half-research philosophy for free. The NC and the university also give you nice boosts that I tend to use to power me towards physics.

Is it good or bad idea to build library, when going to build Great library?
1) does free lib from it gives science boost event?
2) does it do it when replacing buildt lib?
3) does building lib itself gives interesting science boost (when there can be uresearched lowest tier techs)?

1. Yes. You effectively get 2 boosts. 1 from the GL and 1 from it's free library.
2. Yes. Even if you build a library first the free library the replaces it triggers the boost again.
3. It's not bad but it's not really great either. Unless you delay the library significantly it won't make a massive impact and the delay has probably cost you just as much science as you would've gained. Basically just build it when you want to and be happy for the extra beakers.
