[1.0.1.383] Disembark bug (England?)

Embarked units struggle to disembark.

Playing England, I move an embarked unit next to a land tile. When trying to disembark the unit onto the land tile, the unit moves to an adjacent water tile and stops. This happens both when using the mouse to issue the command as well as using the keybord. If the unit has move points left I can try again, and the same thing happens. It is as if there are invisible tile walls that the unit tries to move around.

Usually, I manage to disembark the unit, and I've found that if I use 2 movement points before trying to disembark, the issue seems to disappear. This suggests that the bug may be related to the England special trait (Sun Never Sets, +2 :c5moves: Movement for all naval units).

I've attached a screenshot that hopefully helps illustrate the issue.

In the attached savegame, there are an embarked infantry unit and 2 embarked workers affected by the bug.

I had the problem with English disembarking units before the 1.0.1.383 patch.
My unit stayed in the water instead of entering an empty barbarian camp and got killed by an uprising barbarinan vessel.

I have noticed this behavior as well. Most of the time I can click on the cancel acton icon and move the unit to shore in the same turn. Most of the time a unit right next to shore will want to move left or right before landing directly. Having said this there are times when the units will land properly as well.

I just noticed the same behavior with a custom civ which I gave England's trait, so the problem definitely lies therein. Found this topic via Google, apparently the bug is still alive.

This happens a lot to me too. If you forget about it (ie when you right click to move it) it either stays forever in the water or gets killed by a naval vessel as the OP said.

I send a unit on a transport and tell it to disembark at a certain tile. It will go to an adjacent tile stay in the transport and not leave. I then have to move it around a little and try again and it will get out. Anyone else having this problem?

Also England?

I have had this happen to me often too. I normally play England in Vanilla Multi games so can't say if it happens to other civs but it happens to my units all the time. They will move to an ocean tile adjacent to it rather than the land tile at times.

Seems English units can not disembark until they only have as many movement points left, as they would have without their racial trait. A bug, that must not exist, as this doesn't happen to other movement increasing traits like the naval tradition social policy, the great lighthouse and danish units. It's a joke that this is not fixed. An offense towards all users. A shame.

I've experienced the same embarkment problem. To force my units ashore I use the direct movement button. That makes them leave the water and enter the land tile I choose directly.

I've noticed this in my current England game but didn't notice it in previous GnK games with other civs.

Base (2) + England(+2) + astronomy(+1) + Great Lighthouse(+1) = >5 mp, therefore bug. My modding experiments have shown that combined bonuses via traits, research, etc that bring embark movement to greater than 5 leads to the bug... don't ask me why. I don't think, in non-modded civ, any other civilization except England can get that movement, so it only kicks in when playing England.

I've only had this since G&K, but it's really annoying - I've had it as Austria in the Rennaisance scenario (MP of 7 :c5moves: ). I've also had a similar issue when playing as Carthage with mountain movement, where it won't let me move to a mountain tile if it is the last MP of the unit

I have this issue with Helis. Also, the game doesn't take away half health from helis after stopping on a mountain for a turn. As I understand it, it was supposed to do this after G&K.

Oddly the 1/2 movement cost for terrain seems to allow for extra movement... In my mod I gave double movement for ocean terrain to all units(embarked land as well). And the bug never kicked in even though they were actually moving more than 5 hexes... So theoretically if you did that for every unit on every terrain you could go 10 hexes without the bug. Your mp would still be 5 but the promotion effectively doubles that restriction.

I played the Paradies scenario and had the disembarkmentbug very often.

Anyone play as England and find that units won't disembark on their own?

I sent a unit to an island that was several turns away. They arrived at the island and instead of landing, they shuffled back and forth in front of the beaches for 10+ turns before I noticed. This happened a couple of times.

Clearly it's related to the issue in the OP.
