Sorry for not taking up the previous game again, it has been too long and a very busy summer. Let's start the Huns out on a new foot

Welcome folks to my next Role Play Challenge, Attila the Hun. These games are meant to be fun and educational although I am not sure how much education is needed these many years later. Feel free to join the fun.

Our leader met a grim end in the first attempt at this game. Attila is back with an attitude, time to rid the world of Civilization once and for all.

And that is just where we are going here

Game settings

Emperor difficulty, marathon speed, Pangea Huge Map.
Random leader traits on
No Tech Trading (Note, accidently left on for the reboot so tech trading is legit)
No Vassals
18 leaders
We are playing as Cyrus of the Byzantines
Aggressive Leaders.

The Rules (only change is rule 5):
1) All civilization must be destroyed
2) All Holy Cities, Corporation HQs, and Cities with a World wonder must be razed.
3) The Huns are forbidden from building ANY World Wonders, can only build the HE/WP/MR national Wonders
4) All science is forbidden. This means libraries, universities, observatories, labs and scientist specialists. Other specialists and buildings are OK.
5) We cannot open borders
6) BArbarian cities may never be attacked and barb units can only be killed while defending.

Our Babrarian Leader

And the Start

Looks like agriculture and Animal Husbandry first

Glad to see you are back and ready to roll! :)

Wouldn't the Huns make an exception of no World Wonders for the Pentagon, if the game lasts that long, since it is in the same class as WP for an XP bonus?

In any case, I shall settle in and enjoy the show.:popcorn:

Resource bubbles are our friends :) Looks like a solid start and I guess at least 1 strategic resource at that suspicious plain tile (my bet is iron). 2 good food resources, river, grass lands and at least 2 hills. I hope there are more hills in your BFC. Since science buildings are forbidden, does this mean you will be cottaging like mad?

Warrior 1SW and maybe settle on PH 2s1w if theres seafood (it looks like it corners the sea), else SIP

Subbed, subbed subbed!!!

Mad - You must create an Attila GG mounted unit to lead your troops

Technically, Red Cross should be allowed...not that I ever build it

So currency isn't that useful (except for markets) compared to alphabet for building research.

You should really try Boudica's axe/swords with march (and siege support). They never have to heal.

A few comments

1) The Pentagon is a worthless excuse of warrior value that comes from the civilized world. It will be burned to the ground once the Huns encounter it (if any lands remain).

2) The Red Cross is for Pansies, true Hun warriors will heal on the battlefield and are promoted along the warior lines.

3) Yes Atilla will lead the troops as a mounted unit, likely a Medic III (yes in contridiction to the above point 2 but he's the Hun leader and can do what he wants.)

4) The game is at marathon speed, yes I have reverted to my original speeds over the summer and enjoy then immensely. That was part of the reason for the earlier Hun delays.

Okay, I'll give you that Red Cross is for pansies (and nurses). However, you are going to get a TON of GGs. You'll have plenty to hook up Attila with the Leadership promo and combat promos and have another medic GG unit (scouts work great for that by the way). Attila wants to fight for you, Mad, not apply band-aids to boo-boos. Now that's a pansy ;)

Self tech:

Basic worker techs, monarchy, CoL, alpha, math, currency, metal casting, feudalism. Early alpha for build research sounds good although a head start on merchants (CoL) and allowing a high slider is doable also...

Run caste, farm 3 merchants. You'll probably want 4-5 cities for this.

Bulb:

1. Civil Service
2. Machinery
3. Guilds

Use military to "defend" vs barbs and farm up heroic epic. Stay small to get this quickly and I'm betting you can get cataphracts in the early ADs despite the rules, especially on marathon.

You probably won't need anything else.

Hunnish Beginnings

Atilla strolled along the riverside forrest enjoying the fresh air, clean water, and pleasent company from his fellow huns. He sighed as he sensed changes in the air, "seams like I have been here before."

SO Atilla orders his people to settler where they are

Hun research starts with agriculte, production is for a worker, and the Hun warrior heads north

Interesting to find elephants yet that is a lot of jungle for the huns to deal with.

The first Leader of Civilization shows up

And Atilla is repulsed by Willem. The next leader

While much more intersting appears to be a cultured bore compared to the hearty Hun women and Atilla dismisses the Persian Dame.

Further exploration shows

Quite difficult terrain for the Huns. Ah, if only the civilized world would leave them be, but Atilla urges his peopl on and research on Animal Husbandry is begun.

Meanwhile more worthless leaders appear and are ignored until Atilla locates the Persian Budica

Dur north past the jungle.

Atilla is delighted to find horses very close by

But is bitterly disappointed to discover that Asoka and his NAtive Americans have already claimed them.

Boudica is quickly forgotten as Atilla swears death to Asoka and orders the huns to research Mining and Bronze Working.

The second Hun city is settled to claim the Elephants in the jungle.

And before the third city is setted, Atilla looks for where copper is

Arg!!!!!!!! No copper, no horses and a few warriors to defend the homelands. Atilla Scowls and orders the huns to research iron working next, forgoing the defense of archery or the primitive economic techs of pottery or writing.

"WE ARE HUNS!!!!!!!!!!"

City 3 is settle to establish more interla trade routes and claim the luxury resources before the agressive Persian LAdy claims them first/.

Things begin to favor the huns are several leaders discover alphabet and are willing t trade technologies

Atilla will let no foreignors in his lands but exploiting their greed for the betterment of the huns makes sense.

But soon Atilla finds the Persian Wench has claimed a lot of land to his north.

Trades continue to be made

And the Huns can begin building archers at least. Atilla considers the possibility of an archer based army if the slow teching iron working turns up nothing.

A last tech trade is made

As iron working is finaly teched

Atilla smiles, then soon laughes! He then turned an evil eye westward towards Asoka's people who have just insulted the huns by building the Great Wall.

Techs show

Perhaps we can get sailing from MAnsa, pehaps not.

But for now Atilla looks towards.......

THE WEST!

Kind of funny how Darius and Boudica swapped empires. I'd watch out for an alliance between those two.... Now, do you smash your Hunnic hordes against the Great Wall, go north and knock the Celtic/Persian conglomerate down a peg, or wait a while and cut back those Jungles?

? I thought there was no tech trading
