ok...these guys are technically homeless in regular civ 5, but essential to any good napoleonic mod/scenario :D

the zip includes blends, dds and gr2s....NOT IN MOD format

in addition, the austrians have an extra dds to replace the grenadier from default (see pic) to red cuff/turnback uniform....

Awesome work with the units, is there any possibility of you making different types, though? (In other words, would you take new UU requests?)

great job again, I love the details :goodjob:

Hi,

I loaded the units down and want now to make them my Rifleman in the Austrian Empire Mod...
How can I do that?

Please write my an example...

kind regards
Gwydion

Hi!
the units really look great. BUT as I'm a completly noob concerning units, I do not have an idea how to use your files. I managed to use the Zulu Impi for one of my projects but there were all files present. Is there any tutorial somewhere how I tranfer your files into MOD format? I always thought one just needs the dds and gr2 files. But what are the blend-files for? and where do I find the fxsxml files?
sorry to bother you - but if you have time and patience it would be great if you could give me some hints. And it would be a pity NOT to use your fantastic files :)

Hello Karantaner,

all you need to know about adding units in the game is in Kael's Modders Guide.

It's detailled and easy to understand.

Just one thing that has changed since this guide was made :
Now the VFS flag for all graphic file has to be check on.
(with all I mean ArtdefinUnits.xml and ArtdefineUnitsMember.xml as well)

If you have more questions don't hesitate to ask them.

Good luck.

yes, I know Kael's guide and adding units is quite easy. but concerning graphics, there is not much in Kael's guide; e.g. where to find all the fxsxml files. the other stuff is fairly easy, only to get some basics first takes a little bit of time :)

But I think I can figure it out - if not, I'll get back to you ;) thanks!

Just copy a fxsxml from one of the other napoleonic units and revise it. You don't want to include the blend in your mod (it's for if you want to edit the model).

well, I tried to do this, but it doesn't work. I took the Enhanced German Rifleman - this graphic is working fine (screenshot!). I then took its fxsxml file from the german rifleman and replaced the .gr2 filename with the one for the Austrian unit - but the result is that no graphics show up - see second screenshot. I'm I missing something? Do I have to change some other files? VFS is set "true" for all the files and I have included the usual lines in the units and unitmember files. unit system is reloaded as well (as the original german rifleman is working!) hmmm. Any help is highly appreciated!

I can confirm that the Napoleonic Austrian Infantry works ingame, since I have tested it. What I did was take the fxsxml files that come with the Napoleonic French Infantry and adapt them to use the Napoleonic Austrian.

CHEERS! the Napoleonic French Infantry worked for me as well! thanks a lot for that hint! :goodjob:

FWIW, I copied the alternate (white with red trim) Austrian grenadier uniform and applied it to the soldier and officer units to create a new set of units to use as a default for other civs in the era. I figured I'd attach it here in case anyone else has a use for them.

EDIT: Moved to download database. Now also includes generic team-color reskins.

Thanks again for all of your beautiful units, bernie. I hope you get inspired to make more. ;)

This mod will go quite well with Gods and Kings since it will hvae both Austrians and the Dutch.
