Surely you've heard of it? I'm just curious what your thoughts are on the subject.

I don't really have much to add, for an OP, but it seems everyone has an opinion on things like this, so the discussion is sure to create itself

The hilarious part about these people is that they think they're weakening the big business-big government alliance. Do they really believe that the government is run by altruists?

If they really want reform they probably shouldn't be protesting as a group that most people have unfavorable views of. There were some claims they were going to hack websites in conjunction with the protest. There goes any goodwill they might have otherwise had. Idiots.

They're using memes

I doubt that very much. Protests (at least here in the USA) are rarely about changing things directly. Protests are usually used as a way to bring attention to an issue, with the goal of encouraging other people to think about the issue.

I'm sure there are examples where the goal was an immediate change in policy, but I'd be surprised if these folks really expected any direct changes.

A link or brief explanation in the OP would be helpful. However after Googling it all I can say is that if I worked on Wall Street as a big shot executive I would show up to work in jeans and a t-shirt for the next month. I bet that can be scarry.

It is not a real protest until molotovs start flying.

Speaking of memes, this is where I regret not having any photoshop skills to play with a picture of Vyacheslav Molotov... might start one.

Oh god, that's, that's just painful :cringe:
I loled.

Anyway, is this a break off thread, or could we have some links for those like me who pay no attention.

I think we should all just be glad it wasn't like the old days where anything protesting business excess would quickly find itself put down by the National Guard.

So long as Wall Street remains functional, I see no reason the protest shouldn't go on.

I don't see the point in the masks. I can understand the theme of anonymity, but it's not like we're in North Korea.

If Anonymous stuck to protests rather than legally-questionable activities, they'd probably be seen as a wave of the future, re-energising democracy. (Of course, Anonymous is not one group, but many, all using the same label, but many of the branches are known for their hacking)

Of course, I support decreasing the clout of wealth in politics. (Though it would really help if more poor and middle class people spared a few dollars per person, as that would create a sizable chunk of wealth. Collect 10 dollars from every American and you're sitting on 3 billion dollars)

While I hate Wall Street with all my hearts the American people are too well off to actually go up and riot for a cause or something. 10% unemployment? Pfft...40% of my country was blown up in a war and even now with all the general poverty, 20% unemployment and ballerina-thin middle class there is not enough people who got nothing to lose. And we're not even fully westernized so to speak. America has been pacified by its mass media and consumerist culture..
