IOT-ALTERNATE UNIVERSE
Allright, now I know I am a new hand at this but I have created a somewhat complex IOT that should turn out pretty good if all goes well. I will obviously be the GM. Updates should be quite frequent but I want lots of stories behind what you do and lots of player interaction. Here is the first claims map:

BACKSTORY: HOW IT ALL BEGAN…
In the early twenty-first century, around 2025, a scientist whose name is still unknown, but is believed to be affiliated with many superpowers of the day, created a machine that would make space travel possible and practical by jumping through alternate universes and landing wherever they want in their universe that had one changed factor, the number that appeared on the screen of the machine. The machine had been able to transport the scientist from Australia to Russia with no problems and so the first space test was scheduled. When the space test was initiated, there was a malfunction and the safety on the machine didn’t stop the machine from using the same number again. Suddenly the machine disappeared and so did people from all over the planet. Soon every single person from the present and even some from the past were flung into a world similar to earth but with one major difference. The repeated number had been .5 and when people looked into the sky, they saw only half moon and half a sun, yet the temperature was about the same. These people had had some of their basic technology sent with them but many of the people didn’t make it along with the tech. So the population of humans left broke into countries and claimed a small part of their “new” world as their nation!BASIC RULES
• No spam- except for SK. • Be nice to other players
• No racist stuff. Just none of it.
• Try to check the topic as much as possible since while updates are usually going to be on weekends, events and other things in your country can happen at any time.
• Finally, while I will try to have an update every weekend to every other weekend, please don’t nag me since I do have a life.
Your Nation’s Basics
First off, you should already have your name of your country and its four claims, and maybe its history. But here is everything else you need to complete your basic nation.HISTORY: This can be anything in reason as long as it makes sense with the backstory.
GOVERNMENT: This is what kind of political entity you have in your country. Here is a list below of them and their benefits. If you have one that isn’t here and isn’t similar to any of them, let me know and I will probably add it and its bonuses and consequences.
FEUDALISM: Taking over new provinces costs 1.5 more dollars and military units are a dollar cheaper. You get a minus 5% defense when attacked on your own provinces.
DEMOCRACY: You have a very small chance of revolts.
REPUBLIC: Military units are 1.5 dollars cheaper but revolts are more likely.
POLICE STATE: Military Units are 2 dollars cheaper, revolts are SUPER likely, you get one more dollar per a province but provinces cost 1 dollar more. You get a plus 5% defense when attacked on your own provinces.
THEOCRACY: You have a SUPER small chance of revolts, but provinces cost 2 dollars more.
CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY: You have a small chance of revolts and provinces make a dollar more.
CHAOS: YOU ARE SCREWED. HOPE THAT SOME FORM OF GOVERNMENT RETURNS.
ECONOMY: This is what kind of economic entity you have. They also have bonuses and consequences. Some are not compatible with some forms of government.
MIXED ECONOMY: Economic crashes are slightly more likely, buildings are 1 dollar cheaper, Provinces cost 1 dollar more, and provinces make .5 dollars more.
SOCIALISM: Each province makes one more dollar per turn.
COMMUNISM: Buildings 1.5 dollars cheaper.
CAPITALISM: Buildings are 1 dollar cheaper and each province makes .5 dollars more but economic crashes are likely. Not compatible with Feudalism or Police State.
STATE PROPERTY: Provinces cost a dollar more but buildings are 2 dollars cheaper.
MANORALISM: Provinces cost a dollar more and you get one less province when I say you can claim so many provinces for free. Buildings are a dollar cheaper and if you pair this with feudalism you can get rid of the provinces cost a dollar more part.
Those are the basic things you need to make a country. Flags and things like that are appreciated and make the game more interesting.
MONEY AND PROVINCES
PROVINCES: Provinces are the individual territories on the map. When you control one, you get money and its resources from it, and you can build buildings and military units in it. Each province makes 4 dollars a turn. With bonuses that can change. Resources will be explained later along with buildings and units. A province is connected to any other province it touches, (Which can be checked with me if you are in doubt), and the ocean if it is touching it. If you lose all your provinces you lose the game. There are four ways to claim provinces:1: When I say claim a number of provinces for free.
2: When you buy and settle a province which cost 5 dollars and 6 if not touching your provinces.
3: You capture it through war.
4: It is awarded to you through a wonder like the United Nations. There is no United Nations in the beginning of the game.
MONEY: Money is what you use to buy units, pay tribute, send gifts, buy provinces, build buildings, help research techs, and so on. I will refer to money as dollars.
YOUR CAPITAL
Whenever you want, you may choose a capital of your nation, which will be represented by a black star which you will draw in one of your territories. This territory will make 5 dollars and already has a military base and roads. Losing this territory means that your capital has been captured and that each of your provinces makes one less dollar. Once you choose a capital, you cannot change it.BUILDINGS
Buildings can be built in each of your provinces with the exception of your capital which is considered a building and can only be built once and is free. More buildings become available as new techs are researched. All buildings can only be built once in each province with the exception of the military base. Here is the Basic List of Buildings:
Military Base - Provides a 10 Percent Defense Bonus and allows provinces not touching your main provinces to build units. Maximum of two can be built in a province. Costs 8 dollars REPRESENTED BY A FILLED BLACK SQUARE
Roads - Movement only costs half through that territory for you and your enemies and allies Cost 6 dollars. REPRESENTED BY A BLACK X
Bank- That province makes one more dollar. Cost 7 dollars REPRESNTED BY A BLACK B
Infrastructure – Helps keep your economy afloat. Costs 7 dollars REPRESENYED BY THE LETTER I
Barracks – Provides a 5 percent defense in that province and all military units are a dollar cheaper. Costs 7 dollars. REPRESENTED BY AN UNFILLED BLACK SQUARE
Cities – These are the hubs of your empire or nation. These can give you bonuses at any time but also can sometimes make trouble for you. They cost 7 dollars to fund and they have an 85 percent chance of succeeding. REPRESENTED BY A FILLED BLACK CIRCLE
MILITARY UNITS
There are seven types of units in the beginning of the game.INFANTRY: Your good old G.I. Joe, your mainstay soldier who is the cheapest unit. They get a five percent offense/defense bonus when attacking with artillery. They can fortify in a province which gives them a five percent defense bonus but once you move them again you have to wait another turn to mobilize them. Cost 3 dollars.
ARMOR: Your awesome gun blazing tanks. They have a five percent defense/offense bonus against infantry and artillery. Cost 5 dollars.
ARTILLERY: Your flying bullet machine. They give their infantry a bonus and have a five percent defense bonus against attacking infantry. Special ability: Softening- 50 percent chance of a getting a 5 percent bonus when attacking and it counts as its move. Cost 4 dollars. Primarily a defensive unit.
FIGHTERS: Your nice missile firing jet. Five percent defense/offense bonus against bombers. Cost 6 dollars.
BOMBERS: 5 percent offense bonus against all land units. Two Special Abilities: Bombing Run- Has a 30 percent chance of destroying a military base but that counts as its move. (Must be at most 7 territories away) Last Run – A 30 percent chance of getting a 5 percent defnse bonus when being attacked Cost 8 dollars
SEA TRANSPORT – Can transport up to three of any unit unless it is artillery where it can only carry the artillery and any one other unit. Can fight but automatically receives a -5% consequence when attacking. Cost 6 dollars.
CRUISERS: The other ship in the sea they don’t receive any bonuses at the moment. Cost 6 dollars.
New units will come along as new techs are researched along with new bonuses. All land units move two, sea units can go to any country in two turns and air units get 4 moves per a turn.
COMBAT
Combat is complex yet easy to understand. Two units fight each other at a time. Each has a 50 percent chance of winning at first. You then add all bonuses from each sides and that gives you a new percentage. Lets say a tank attacks another tank in province with a military base in it. The defending tank gets a 10 percent bonus since there is a military base and there are no ther bonuses for either side. So the final odds are 60% for the defending tank and 40 percent. I then use an algorithm I have and then one side wins, which will probably be the defending tank since the odds are in its favor but it still close.FINAL NOTES PLEASE READ
PLAYER INTERACTION IS SINCERELY WANTED!!! Making deals and other diplomatic things thing can bring all different kinds of events, bonuses, consequences, and so o that aren’t even shown here. Without lots of player interaction and diplomacy the game becomes very boring and linear, and it’s not very fun for anybody, including YOU. Finally, if you have any questions, please PM me. I will be reserving the next few posts where i will have the map updated and updates.YOU MAY NOW COMPLETE THE BASICS OF YOUR COUNRTRY AND USE YOUR FIRST 16 DOLLARS!!!!!!!
