Allright, now I know I am a new hand at this but I have created a somewhat complex IOT that should turn out pretty good if all goes well. I will obviously be the GM. Updates should be quite frequent but I want lots of stories behind what you do and lots of player interaction.

BACKSTORY: HOW IT ALL BEGAN…
In the early twenty-first century, around 2025, a scientist whose name is still unknown, but is believed to be affiliated with many superpowers of the day, created a machine that would make space travel possible and practical by jumping through alternate universes and landing wherever they want in their universe that had one changed factor, the number that appeared on the screen of the machine. The machine had been able to transport the scientist from Australia to Russia with no problems and so the first space test was scheduled. When the space test was initiated, there was a malfunction and the safety on the machine didn’t stop the machine from using the same number again. Suddenly the machine disappeared and so did people from all over the planet. Soon every single person from the present and even some from the past were flung into a world similar to earth but with one major difference. The repeated number had been .5 and when people looked into the sky, they saw only half moon and half a sun, yet the temperature was about the same. These people had had some of their basic technology sent with them but many of the people didn’t make it along with the tech. So the population of humans left broke into countries and claimed a small part of their “new” world as their nation!
BASIC RULES
• No spam- except for SK. :D
• Be nice to other players
• No racist stuff. Just none of it.
• Try to check the topic as much as possible since while updates are usually going to be on weekends, events and other things in your country can happen at any time.
• Finally, while I will try to have an update every weekend to every other weekend, please don’t nag me since I do have a life. :D
Your Nation’s Basics
First off, you should already have your name of your country and its four claims, and maybe its history. But here is everything else you need to complete your basic nation.
HISTORY: This can be anything in reason as long as it makes sense with the backstory.
GOVERNMENT: This is what kind of political entity you have in your country. Here is a list below of them and their benefits. If you have one that isn’t here and isn’t similar to any of them, let me know and I will probably add it and its bonuses and consequences.
FEUDALISM: Taking over new provinces costs 1.5 more dollars and military units are a dollar cheaper. You get a minus 5% defense when attacked on your own provinces.
DEMOCRACY: You have a very small chance of revolts.
REPUBLIC: Military units are 1.5 dollars cheaper but revolts are more likely.
POLICE STATE: Military Units are 2 dollars cheaper, revolts are SUPER likely, you get one more dollar per a province but provinces cost 1 dollar more. You get a plus 5% defense when attacked on your own provinces.
THEOCRACY: You have a SUPER small chance of revolts, but provinces cost 2 dollars more.
CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY: You have a small chance of revolts and provinces make a dollar more.
CHAOS: YOU ARE SCREWED. HOPE THAT SOME FORM OF GOVERNMENT RETURNS. :p
ECONOMY: This is what kind of economic entity you have. They also have bonuses and consequences. Some are not compatible with some forms of government.
MIXED ECONOMY: Economic crashes are slightly more likely, buildings are 1 dollar cheaper, Provinces cost 1 dollar more, and provinces make .5 dollars more.
SOCIALISM: Each province makes one more dollar per turn.
COMMUNISM: Buildings 1.5 dollars cheaper.
CAPITALISM: Buildings are 1 dollar cheaper and each province makes .5 dollars more but economic crashes are likely. Not compatible with Feudalism or Police State.
STATE PROPERTY: Provinces cost a dollar more but buildings are 2 dollars cheaper.
MANORALISM: Provinces cost a dollar more and you get one less province when I say you can claim so many provinces for free. Buildings are a dollar cheaper and if you pair this with feudalism you can get rid of the provinces cost a dollar more part.
Those are the basic things you need to make a country. Flags and things like that are appreciated and make the game more interesting.

MONEY AND PROVINCES
PROVINCES: Provinces are the individual territories on the map. When you control one, you get money and its resources from it, and you can build buildings and military units in it. Each province makes 4 dollars a turn. With bonuses that can change. Resources will be explained later along with buildings and units. A province is connected to any other province it touches, (Which can be checked with me if you are in doubt), and the ocean if it is touching it. If you lose all your provinces you lose the game. There are four ways to claim provinces:
1: When I say claim a number of provinces for free.
2: When you buy and settle a province which cost 5 dollars and 6 if not touching your provinces.
3: You capture it through war.
4: It is awarded to you through a wonder like the United Nations. There is no United Nations in the beginning of the game.
MONEY: Money is what you use to buy units, pay tribute, send gifts, buy provinces, build buildings, help research techs, and so on. I will refer to money as dollars.
YOUR CAPITAL
Whenever you want, you may choose a capital of your nation, which will be represented by a black star which you will draw in one of your territories. This territory will make 5 dollars and already has a military base and roads. Losing this territory means that your capital has been captured and that each of your provinces makes one less dollar. Once you choose a capital, you cannot change it.
BUILDINGS
Buildings can be built in each of your provinces with the exception of your capital which is considered a building and can only be built once and is free. More buildings become available as new techs are researched. All buildings can only be built once in each province with the exception of the military base.
Here is the Basic List of Buildings:
Military Base - Provides a 10 Percent Defense Bonus and allows provinces not touching your main provinces to build units. Maximum of two can be built in a province. Costs 8 dollars REPRESENTED BY A FILLED BLACK SQUARE
Roads - Movement only costs half through that territory for you and your enemies and allies Cost 6 dollars. REPRESENTED BY A BLACK X
Bank- That province makes one more dollar. Cost 7 dollars REPRESNTED BY A BLACK B
Infrastructure – Helps keep your economy afloat. Costs 7 dollars REPRESENYED BY THE LETTER I
Barracks – Provides a 5 percent defense in that province and all military units are a dollar cheaper. Costs 7 dollars. REPRESENTED BY AN UNFILLED BLACK SQUARE
Cities – These are the hubs of your empire or nation. These can give you bonuses at any time but also can sometimes make trouble for you. They cost 7 dollars to fund and they have an 85 percent chance of succeeding. REPRESENTED BY A FILLED BLACK CIRCLE
MILITARY UNITS
There are seven types of units in the beginning of the game.
INFANTRY: Your good old G.I. Joe, your mainstay soldier who is the cheapest unit. They get a five percent offense/defense bonus when attacking with artillery. They can fortify in a province which gives them a five percent defense bonus but once you move them again you have to wait another turn to mobilize them. Cost 3 dollars.
ARMOR: Your awesome gun blazing tanks. They have a five percent defense/offense bonus against infantry and artillery. Cost 5 dollars.
ARTILLERY: Your flying bullet machine. They give their infantry a bonus and have a five percent defense bonus against attacking infantry. Special ability: Softening- 50 percent chance of a getting a 5 percent bonus when attacking and it counts as its move. Cost 4 dollars. Primarily a defensive unit.
FIGHTERS: Your nice missile firing jet. Five percent defense/offense bonus against bombers. Cost 6 dollars.
BOMBERS: 5 percent offense bonus against all land units. Two Special Abilities: Bombing Run- Has a 30 percent chance of destroying a military base but that counts as its move. (Must be at most 7 territories away) Last Run – A 30 percent chance of getting a 5 percent defnse bonus when being attacked Cost 8 dollars
SEA TRANSPORT – Can transport up to three of any unit unless it is artillery where it can only carry the artillery and any one other unit. Can fight but automatically receives a -5% consequence when attacking. Cost 6 dollars.
CRUISERS: The other ship in the sea they don’t receive any bonuses at the moment. Cost 6 dollars.
New units will come along as new techs are researched along with new bonuses. All land units move two, sea units can go to any country in two turns and air units get 4 moves per a turn.
COMBAT
Combat is complex yet easy to understand. Two units fight each other at a time. Each has a 50 percent chance of winning at first. You then add all bonuses from each sides and that gives you a new percentage. Lets say a tank attacks another tank in province with a military base in it. The defending tank gets a 10 percent bonus since there is a military base and there are no ther bonuses for either side. So the final odds are 60% for the defending tank and 40 percent. I then use an algorithm I have and then one side wins, which will probably be the defending tank since the odds are in its favor but it still close.

FINAL NOTES PLEASE READ
PLAYER INTERACTION IS SINCERELY WANTED!!! Making deals and other diplomatic things thing can bring all different kinds of events, bonuses, consequences, and so o that aren’t even shown here. Without lots of player interaction and diplomacy the game becomes very boring and linear, and it’s not very fun for anybody, including YOU. Finally, if you have any questions, please PM me. I will be reserving the next few posts where i will have the map updated and updates.
YOU MAY NOW COMPLETE THE BASICS OF YOUR COUNRTRY AND USE YOUR FIRST 16 DOLLARS!!!!!!!

Sorry, but due to some unforseen circumstances, I won't be able to play in this IOT. Please remove the orange nation in SE Africa. Again, sorry for having to drop so early into the game.

Sorry to hear you couldn't join. :(

Can i still join?

Thats fine since everybody is creating their countries. Glad you could join.

I already put down the names of the areas where the orders will be enacted: just look them up online.

Can you just have a map with your new claims please?

EVERYBODY: I am putting the symbols that represent each building in their info so you can understand the symbols in the provinces. Once evrybody has gotten their countries done I will do the first update. If not everybody does this by friday or satruday, the first update will be friday or saturday. Constitutional Monarchy is being added along with mixed economy and their info.

COUNTRIES THAT HAVEN'T MADE THE BASICS OF THEIR NATIONS, PLEASE DO SO.
Great job christos on adding stories and elections. Tambien, since you had an election and showed it publicly, your country has gone up a half a stability point. Due to the closeness of the TF of New England and the RSA, the TF has gone down half a stbility point due to their lack of elections and the people being upset about it. Here is the stabilty chart.

Country: Stabality Bonuses and consequences
FE of Brazil: Stable +.5
USSR: Barely Stable -1.5
The TF of New England: Stable +.5
Kingdom Of Dumnonia: Stable +.5
New Deseret: Very Stable +1.5
RSA: Very Stable +1.5
CPR: Stable -.5
Germany: Stable 0
Soviet Republic of Sweden: Stable +1

Everything everybody bought will show up in this post as the first update.

Federated Empire of Brazil

CAPITAL: Sao Paulo
HEAD OF STATE: Pedro II
ANTHEM: Hino Nacional Brasileiro
HISTORY: In January 1, 1879, the entire city of Rio de Janeiro and the surrounding countryside was transported to a mysterious world where only one half of the sun and moon hung in the sky. Subsequent expeditions to the rest of Brazil discovered remnaints of cities, some prosperous, some on the verge of dying out. After 3 years, the Brazilian cities elected to form a union under Rio de Janeiro, preserving Consitutional Monarchy (albeit just barely), while maintaining democratic rights. However, since Slavery was banned under the constitution, the plantation owners rebelled, plunging the new Union of civil war. Two years later, most of southern Brazil is under the control of the Unionists, but most of the North and East is still rebel territory. Although the Union is on the brink of victory, Dom Pedro II is aging, and slowly growing apathetic towards his country's future...

The Trade Federation of New England

Color: Turquoise
Claims: Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine, Vermont
Currency: New England Pound (NEP)
History: After the shift to the other dimension, the former states of New England became extremely weak, with powerful New York State pressuring them. To combat this threat from the West, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts rallied the weak states around the idea of pan-New Englandism. The southern states, Rhode Island and Connecticut, readily agreed fearing New York interests in their many harbors and ports. The northern states of New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine were not so quick to conform. Only after New York began building fortresses along Lake Champlain did Vermont join the Federation. New Hampshire and Maine followed suit, but only after forcing the Federation to move the capital from Boston, MA to Concord, NH because they feared a Massachusetts dominated Federation.
Government: Democracy
Economy: Capitalism
Capitol: Concord, New Hampshire

TFNE Orders, $16:
Build the City of Boston in Massachusetts ($7)
Build a Bank in Massachusetts ($6)
Save $3 for next turn

Claims: Dumnonia(Cornwall), Wales, Hibernia(both Irish provinces)
Spoiler :

By rock119 at 2011-10-04

Capital: Isca(Exeter)
History: Dumnonia rose once more in this new universe. The Welsh of Great Britain joined together and reformed this long-lost kingdom under King Gerient he was quickly given only ceremonial powers. Dumnonia confederated with Wales and Wales became the second province of Dumnonia. Much fighting took place and finally, the stubborn Irish were also put into the growing country of Dumnonia and split into two new provinces. The next to get hit are Northumbria and Scotland.
Colour: Dark Green
Government: Constitutional Monarchy - ((Look at link below))
Economy: Mixed - a Mixture of State Property and Capitalism.
((Ideas for positives and negatives for Mixed Economy: Crashes are possible but not as likely as with Capitalism. Buildings are 1 dollar cheaper, Provinces cost a dollar more to capture, each province makes an extra .5 dollars))
((Ideas for Constitutional Monarchy: You have a very small chance of revolts((Less than normal Democracy)). 1 dollar goes to the monarchy every turn))

Farsight. Do you mean feudalism when you say constitutinal monarchy or is it its own seperate one because I will add that one if you want. Also, which province has your capital and please put a star in it. Constitutional Monarchy Otherwise, completely different from feudalism while being different from Republics or pure Democracies. Look at that list of countries with this system.
Mixed Economy It's own type of Economy.

I'm not updating my empire until this is sorted out. okay?

New Deseret

Spoiler Flag :

Leader: His Holiness Emperor Norman I
Religion: Mormonism
Government: Theocracy
Economy: Capitalism
Capital: New Salt Lake City
Claims: Utah, Nevada, Arizona, California
History: Following the malfunction of the teleportation machine, the population of Utah was scattered to the four corners of the Earth. Miraculously, many of the denizens of Salt Lake City materialized in the same location. Taking this as a sign from god, they decided to return to Utah. Upon their arrival at the Great Salt Lake, they found it already inhabited. Apparently, Brigham Young, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 30 years in the 1800s, had also been sent to this alternate universe. Whilst on the road, he encountered a group of Macedonian soldiers, led by Alexander the Great. Taken prisoner, he eventually converted the lot of them to Mormonism & directed them to the Great Salt Lake, where they rebuilt the City as a great metropolis. When the two groups collided, they decided that it was time to enlighten the world, & created a State devoted solely to the spreading of Mormonism. With Alexander as their emperor, they managed to conquer & convert the old States of Nevada, Arizona, & California. Eventually, a smallpox epidemic killed Alexander & 40% of the remaining Macedonians in New Deseret. Now, led by the Son of Alexander’s 3rd daughter & Brigham, the young country stands poised to make its mark on this Brave New World.

Republic of Southern America (RSA)

Color: Sky Blue
Currency: Dixie Dollar (D$)
History: The shift came for Robert E. Lee just before he retreated from Richmond. With the Union Army no longer near him, he returned to Richmond. Only, this Richmond was the one from 2025, and so was the countryside of Virginia and some of the surrounding states. The Governor of Virginia offered to have a Constitutional Convention in Richmond, but the state of West Virginia refused to attend. They eventually adopted a Constitution similar to that of the Old United States, and called themselves the Republic of Southern America. They plan on spreading democracy to the surrounding regions, and indeed, the only major obstacle they face is the opposition of West Virginia to a unification of states near it. With West Virginia as its only enemy, the RSA is sure to become a major superpower in years to come.

Republic of Southern America (RSA)

Elections were held today, and Bob MacDomnel, Moderate, has won the presidency.

The political situation in a Southern America is actually quite simple. There are the Confederates, who push for states rights and white supremacy(they just can't accept the reality that we are equal), the Republicans, the Democrats, the Moderate Party, and independents. The Republicans tend to side with the Confederates, but the Democrats have more support. The Moderate Party has the most support at around 45%.
