Mr Werritty, the best man and self-styled adviser to Dr Fox, will be re-questioned by Cabinet Office officials to try to discover whether he financially benefitted from his links to the minister.

Despite growing calls for his resignation, Dr Fox insisted today he's fully focused on his job as allegations continue to mount about his relationship with Mr Werritty

Conservative catflap: the truth behind Maya and the deportation row

...Theresa May claimed that a Bolivian student was saved from deportation because he had a pet cat.

...
An immigration judge's light-hearted remark about a cat no longer having to fear adapting to Bolivian mice lies behind the outlandish Conservative party conference claim by home secretary Theresa May. Her assertion that a Bolivian student was an illegal immigrant who could not be deported because he had a pet cat – called Maya – was one of three examples she cited as justifying her new drive to prevent human rights protection for family life blocking deportations.

Is the Conservative Party becoming a joke

Yes they are a joke, their healthcare reforms are nothing more than an attempt to privatize and sell off the NHS.

[Defence Secretary Liam Fox has resigned after a week of pressure over his working relationship with friend and self-styled adviser Adam Werritty.

Mr Fox was being investigated amid claims he broke the ministerial code.

In a letter to David Cameron, Mr Fox said he had "mistakenly allowed" personal and professional responsibilities to be "blurred".

In response, the prime minister said he was very sorry for Mr Fox's departure but "understood his reasons".

Labour said Mr Fox had not upheld the standards expected of ministers and his departure was "inevitable".

Good bloody riddance

I'm willing to bet, that he wasn't just his "Adviser"... but a possible lover.

Whatever his personal life, the man has to have been one of the best defence secretaries we've had in a long time.

Philip Hammond is Fox's replacement

That's quite an allegation to make, especially from someone who gets all offended at pejorative mentions of homosexuality,.

@ Imperial; surely by "best" you mean "least incompetant"

Because what i said was totally pejorative bro.

I'm too lazy to read the entire article and demand to know what's going on. What ministerial code did he break? Why can't he have a friend and adviser?

He essentially didn't declare that this guy was working on his (and by extension the British Government's) behalf.

He took quite an active interest in his job and was very competent at the job itself, his interaction with the ASTOR and CVF programmes demonstrate that imo.
