any shenanigans this time, hab?

^If he did, he t0 worldbuilder edited it then re-saved it rather than the swap he did last time. Strictly speaking, it could be the exact same thing again but at least we know the map at the start this time.

Pretty normal map this time, thou with check to make sure we didn't have plains cow/plains hill sheep as our only food since none was in view at start I noticed its not a totally normal map :)

lol, started playing, decided to whip a unit to defend vs barbs (but only if they approach the city), put some hammers into it, yup they approach, realized I forgot to revolt into slavery. Trying again now ^_^

this map reminds me situations where TMIT says someone got too much land

Spoiler :

nice rex experience... 10 cities around 1AD 2-3 barb cities in it. will settle around 14-15 myself without war.

My tech is going a bit slow, but won Music race, not sure how to win the game ;-). Cottage spammed here :-)

@vranasm

Spoiler :
That's pretty much what I expected from what I saw when I did the food check, hence the not totally normal game :)

played up to 1420 AD. I think I am in winning position, but not sure.

Spoiler :

I went with veeery peaceful way of doing this. Expanded to 15 cities which made me super lazy :-(

I got beaten to Lib at 980 AD, was very angry at that point.

At first was thinking about going with cuirs/cavs, but since I missed the Lib i switched focus for slowly getting Democracy, which I got.

Right now i have access to switching into US (waited a bit for more towns online). Have access to cannons and can start whipping cannons with muskets, then attack gilgamesh.

Zara and Hanni are running a bit with the game, so it will be drag a bit probably.

Stupid broken vassal mechanics warped my units on other end of the board, even though I had enough power to CRUSH anyone, and why would I agree to 10 turns of peace? Rediculous bullsh!t from firaxis again.

And again looks like I won BOTH Domination and Conquest victory at the same time.

Spoiler :

Nice easy start here! 10 cities built plus three taken from the barbs. Tech rate was a bit slow to start I only got CS around 350AD. Libbed MT around 1000AD then decided to go the slow route and went through democracy before rifles. I also spent some time in emancipation and bought a few grocers banks etc. It's been a lazy game becasue Saladin and Giggles are the only civs with any size and Sal has spent all game warring so it should be easy to buy/whip the map away from here. Hannibal has had a decent tech rate and is a few turns from rifles but he only has 4 cites.

1580 domination
Spoiler :

Giggles wiped out, Saladin capped after a hell of a fight, Alien killed which left me with 57% of land. A few of Zara cites finished it.

was doing pretty well until I accidentally switched to mercantilism, forgetting that i'd gone into police state rather than representation. Stayed that way for 30-ish turns wondering why the hell my tech rate was so bad... that, plus my decision to attack sury + saladin before gilga cost me the game. Probably there was a way to salvage things but meh. My late game is very sloppy as a result of usually leaving around t130.

Protective + rifles is pretty badass vs curs/cavs btw.

Hey V What did you self-tech Drama so early, like right after Aesthetics? Was it to a) trade bait along with Aest and b) Music would be discounted when you eventually decided to research it?

I've tried the map myself and I a little reassured that I settled pretty much the same spots. So using a good player like yourself as a benchmark, I'm happy to see I didn't blow things. My chosen tech path was a little off but I know I still need to address this.

right now i have mixed some maps, but if I remember right there is no marble and i wanted to go for Music.
Not sure if I landed it first though (as i said mixing games).

Drama opens music too and with no marble there is less use for Literature (which needs poly too, meaning that you need to compare lit+poly x drama in the costs).
Drama also opens Philo, but I think I didn't value it as that in the time, it was mainly for opening Music without going Lit.

nice to hear from you as being some kind of "benchmark", but i think I didn't play this map that well.

You've got to be kidding me....

I didn't like my start anyway. Probably going to retry

Good point about Lit needing Poly, whereas Drama's just as good.

Why does every game on this forum seem to be on pangea. Even with a water leader where it'd be nice to make use of his UU/UB. Oh well, might try it anyway since Willem is one of my favourite leaders. Quite annoying though... contact with other continents and islands has always been one of my favourite parts of civilization games.

Hmm current NC is Hemisphere, LHC is never Pangea, and the last few IU have been Inland Sea, Fractal, or Archipelago?

None series games are often Pangea as its the best map script for comparing games, due to the greater control the player can have over AIs. In multi-continent games you can have totally different games despite doing things identically due to whats happening on the other continent(s), ie a religious lovefest in one game vs all out total warfare in another. While the same can happen on Pangea you have much greater control over the results.
