It does not take a long time for the game soundtrack to get boring and stale. It ends up to the point where I muted the game music to play something on YouTube or iTunes while playing. The soundtrack needs improvement. Alas, that is what I intend to do with this mod.

But one thing I do not have is a full list of songs. I need at least 7-10 songs per era, and the most I have right now for one era is 6. So I am opening it up to y'all. What would you like to see in the soundtrack? All you need to do is give me a high quality youtube vid (I use this nifty tool) and what era(s) You would like to hear it in. Do not worry, I will give you credit for your suggestions. Just one limit: No discernible lyrics please. Lyrics in Obscure or dead languages, such as Ominous Latin Chanting, are fine, but nothing in English.

Here is what I have so far. If you would like to comment on suggesting I remove or edit something, go right ahead:

Ancient
The Jurassic Park theme - John Williams - Jurassic Park
A few LOTR songs, one is this one, I still have to pick a few more
AU79 - Tyler the Creator (Suggested by hoplitejoe)
Dawn Patrol (Instrumental) - Megadeth

Classical
Greco-Roman Theme - Civilization III Conquests
The Unsung War - Ace Combat 5 (I may use a shorter version)
Barbarians at the Gate

Medieval

Zhalba Za Lazar - some Bulgarian music - the opening menu music for tchristiansen's ExtremeMod
RFC: Sword of Islam opening menu theme
Middle Eastern Theme - Civilization III Conquests
O Fortuna
Dies Irae - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Renaissance
Conquistator - Andreas Waldetoft - Europa Universalis III
He's A Pirate - Pirates of the Caribbean
Sacred Journey

Industrial
The Coronation - Andreas Waldetoft - Victoria II
For God and Queen - Andreas Waldetoft - Victoria II
Requiem for a Dream - Clint Mansell (may have spelled wrong)
Ride of the Valkyries - Richard Wagner (Suggested by Sonereal)

Modern
SmashFull - Civilization III (Suggested by west india man)
StarsFull - Civilization III (Suggested by west india man)
TechnoMixFull - Civilization III (Suggested by west india man)
Hangar 18 (Instrumental) - Megadeth
Metal Harbor - Crush 40 - Sonic Adventure 2
Fourside theme - Super Smash Bros. Melee

Era TBD
The NFL on CBS - The NFL on CBS
Star Trek (2009) Theme - Star Trek (2009)
Let the Story Begin - Sub Focus (Suggested by hoplitejoe) (I may cut out a bit of this)

BTW it is Tyler not Tyber :p

You know what I'd really like to have? CityArtStyle dependent music at least for the medieval era, so you don't have to listen to Gregorian chant when playing a middle eastern or east asian civ.

Yes!
I want that too.
Maybe you can add some Asian,African and American music?
Europe is a fine continent, but there are others that deserve music too.
Civilization IV was too Eurocentric,by my opinion.
Civilization V did that very well.

There's two aspects necessary for this: finding some worthwhile music for at least medieval East Asia and medieval Middle East (and extend them to the Renaissance as well, I suppose). Pre-columbian American music is hard to come by, I fear, and I guess it's justifiable to return to classical composers for everyone in the Industrial Era when European culture became widespread.

The other part is to find a way to give the game several playlists depending of CityArtStyle and play the right one. I don't know if that's actually accessible in the DLL.

Leoreth: Hmm...that is actually quite a good idea. I dont know how to mod the DLL (yet) but I can see what I can do with that.

However, the first release will just be the music replaced.

Yeah, that was just my random musings :)

Actually I plan to have a look into that myself, if I find a way to implement this, I'll let you know.
