Druidism v1.1:
BtS mod

Druidism is a playful experiment which takes advantage of animal units for a different starting game. By building the Druid Circle, the player opens up six choices of units, including two naval units. I'm also thinking of expanding this, even to more than just animal units, but it takes your feedback. Commenting on the website (link above) or commenting here helps me to make that decision.

You can also donate at the site where 100% of the money will be put into college savings. You also get rewards for your charity. $1.00 or more puts you on a beta testing list and $5.00 or more gets you a bonus mod component. More information can be found on the site.

I'd be very careful with this. Although it's somewhat indirect, it can also be seen as making profit from modding which is strictly forbidden by Firaxis and CivFanatics.

Also, I think you (chronomax) preface most of you content posts by that... I think that's signature material. In fact, putting it into your signature would allow you to link safely to your blog, where you could have a general donation button, along the lines of "like my blog, like my stuff? help to keep me fed!" (that is not specifically tied to Civ4, which is frowned upon by Firaxis).

Cheers, LT.

Thank you for your concern, but I'd 1) not like to spam each post I make anywhere with a donation link, 2) believe that it isn't infringing because I also mod for other games and create blog content, and 3) like to reiterate that the Donations tab on the blog says that the bonus material is made after the mod is released and purposefully intended to be a gift. In fact, it states that it's going towards college savings. Also, the beta list is only so I don't beta to an open crowd- essentially releasing it. If any person, however, would still like me to change these conditions, I'd be happy to. It is completely understandable why some people would see this as taking advantage of modding and how some people could abuse this system.

Thank you for your concerns.

Done!

Here's a question: should I keep Druidism only at an early game point or should I, as an instance, make Deer appear when Archers appear or even when you can build Longbownmen? Also, should I keep it to where you can build all units when you get Druid Circle or perhaps have some with Druid Circle and then add a Druidism tech?

Still the same on your blog...

Sounds good with the techs, especially if you want to add more units. Because it would be too much at once after building it (imho).

Looks interesting. Perhaps you could add an Eagle Druid based off of the Eagle from Age of Ice.

Sorry, it's hard to edit via iPhone and I was around during the weekend. It's changed there too now.

I'd love to expand air units so an Eagle unit is awesome- thanks! Could anyone come up with a bomber unit perhaps? Something like a pelican?

I'd go for the 'fictional' Roc for a bomber or fighter, because they're big enough to drop rocks. Also, do the units have a 'druid' person in the graphics?

No, although if you read the Director's Notes in the readme.txt, I'm thinking of adding a civilization that utilizes the Druids. If that happens, there'll be a unit for, say, Swordsman that'll just be Druid.

Next patch will add three more units. I'm also renaming Pirahna because apparently that's not how you spell it. My whole life has been a lie :O

UPDATE!

American unique Druid unit Bald Eagle Druid created, Eagle Druid created, and Mammoth Druid created. All of them require the new technology, Druidism!

Please leave feedback, problems, concerns, etc. I already have one of the units almost done for the next update and it'll be another unique.
