Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry says he would eliminate three federal agencies. Just don’t ask him to name them.

The Texas governor on Wednesday night struggled during a debate with his rivals and said he would nix the Commerce and Education departments. He drew a blank when the moderator asked what the third agency would be.

Perry previously has called on the elimination of the Energy Department.

Perry is only saying “oops” for drawing a blank on a favorite subject of criticism on the campaign trail.

His groping for an answer is about as awkward as Cain's groping his employees.

He's only running for president for the chicks.

By saying he would get rid of the education department, is he talking about public schooling??

Sorry if the question is naive, I don't know the US terminology on the topic.

This is the boost he has been waiting for. It will endear him with the Republican electorate as it shows that he is an average Joe (the plumber) that doesn't know his ass from a hole in his head rather than some elitist with a brain.

Now he's shown his stupid and racist bona fides, if he could just be charged with sexual harassment he’ll have the whole package and it will be smooth sailing to the nomination.

He would get rid of the Federal Education department. The publuic schools are run at the state and local level, though the Federal Government currently plays a role.

That's funny, I was actually watching that clip while OT loaded. Did he ever really stand a chance? I'm not American, so I don't exactly follow the Republican debates that closely, but every time I see his name mentioned, it's over another gaffe. The (African-American)head thing, his weirdly giddy speech last week or so, and this. Was this guy ever a serious contender, or was he just a sideshow to distract media attention from the real candidates?

Perry was the flavor of the month when he entered the race and was at one time was thought a serious contender.

Ron Paul, 15 years Perry's senior, can remember the names of the departments he wants to abolish.

He was a serious contender, then he started talking.

So doea this mean the Boston-baked Ken doll has it in the bag? When is the GOP coronation, again?

Mitt Romney is a fat cat Mormon, Rick Perry is a Texan who can't remember his own ideas, Herman Cain is black, man the Republicans are really aiming low for the right wing vote this time around.

Education
Commerce
Medicare ?

What does it say about human beings that in a critical time in human history, in a debate about the most important issue of this time, that the big topic is that Perry had a brain fart over the name of an obscure federal department? Of which we have about 80. And this is the sort of thing that happens to exactly 100% of said human beings from time to time.

It says we are an unserious people, which is not an indictment but confirmation of a sad fact.

But I agree that this is a +1 double energy bonus for the Governor. Eight people on stage and one in the midst of a phony sex scandal and who is the topic?

Rick Perry levels the world again.

It was the Energy Department, so it is hardly obscure. If you want to slash a whole department, you should have given enough thought into it to be able to remember the name of the department.

It shows that his slash plan was unserious, which is not an indictment but confirmation of a sad fact.

If you really want to talk about something why not discuss the Merkel plan to conquer the fat and timid cows of Europe economically, accomplishing with a fiat monetary unit that which Hitler could not with Panzers and Messerschmidts.

By saying he would get rid of the education department, is he talking about public schooling?
No. Public schooling is mostly funded at the city, county and state level in the United States. The Department of Education is only the federal tool for that.

If we were a smaller country, it might be a reasonable idea.
