resource changing events

Sorry, it's a bit late where I'm posting, but what's wrong with the horse resource being on a city tile? I thought that that gave you access to the horse resource (and by extension the buildings that need the horse resource in the city vincinity)

it spoils your city visually and you cant clearly see the city.try it your self.start a game in the plot you are going to start your city put a horse recourse

Ah, I see. I suppose it would also be a bit silly for a herd to move into the same tile as a city (at least, I think you were referring to the herd event)

Ok radical idea time :)

How about a food couterpart to "Chop Forest/Jungle" - like "Mass Hunt" for animal resources?

Mechanics (taking Bison as the resource):
- Worker moves to Bison tile
- You have prequisite tech researched, so "Mass Hunt" shows up, you execute it
- Bison disappears, giving a LARGE quantity of food to the nearest city (probably enough to make it grow a level), some unhappiness/anger for X turns depending on your civics

This IMHO is a good way to offset the game advantage given by Herd events and also helps bill2502's problem :)

great idea:D but not only for food

That seems wrong... its more historically accurate for the workers to take up cliff hunting or what ever its called when tribals scares herds of hundreds of animals off cliffs. Though its not that great a :food: boost... they only took food from 5 or 6 animals from the top of the pile. That is what offed much of North America's megafauna.

but not only for food

Such as collecting gold from an area quickly. If it is possible, if you take a precious metal or gem, could an event happen to increase inflation as it did IRL when a country got massive amounts of gold? For example, look at Spain after taking over Aztec and Inca.

I have not seen any massive herding events in my recent games and I would shudder to think of the worldwide resource slaughter that might occur in the hands of the AI when his units go out to get the quick influx of resources, just to stunt his growth and maybe mine in the long run. It could potentially make some resources completely extinct, especially on smaller maps. And don't forget a lot of cultures now require special resources to create.

I think if you want to have some way to sabotage a resource, it should be temporary. Like a Spy event. So for X number of turns the resource is unusable and/or provides some kind of penalty (sickness, negative food, unhappiness, etc.)

yea but dont forget that the reason of this thread is how visually bad are cities with rescourses

I don't deny that it seems odd for that to occur. I think the easier fix is merely to not allow a herd event to spawn the herd on the city tile. :)
