IOT: Here and Now

Welcome to our world.
Sort of.
While modern borders line up, there is no infrastructure or military.
There are no existing alliances, either.

So, in summary, take a nation, build up some minor defenses and infrastructure with your starting $100, and take your chances, here and now.

Rules:
Generic anti-spam warning.
Generic keep it polite warning.
You are not allowed to RP about the (world's) lack of infrastructure or military.
You are not allowed impossible (Sci-fi or fantasy) events in your RP.
RP bonuses will affect smaller nations more.
Military will be determined by (DMG*Improvement Bonuses*Unit Bonuses*25% (if defending)*Random Number (1-2)
 
Economics

All territories generate $1 per turn.

Improvements
Spoiler :
Research Lab - 1 required for chemical weapons, 3 for biological weapons, 5 for nuclear weapons. Raises WMD limit by 1. Gives a 15% research bonus. Costs $25

Factory - Required for any mechanical devices. Costs $5. Generates $3. Raises Tank limit by 5.

City - Required for Police, Coast Guard, and National Guard. Costs $5. Raises Army cap by 10. Generates $1.

Airbase - Required for Aircraft. Costs $15. Raises Aircraft limit by 5. Gives 50% defense bonus.

Military Base - Required for non-Guerilla Armies, except Police. Raises Army cap by 25. Costs $5. Gives 50% defense bonus.

Naval Base - Required for non-Coast Guard navies. Raises Naval cap by 15. Gives 50% defense bonus. Costs $10.

Capitol - Basic, pre-set structure. Generates $5. Raises Army, Naval, and Airforce caps by 10.

Safe House - Required for Special Ops and Drones. Raises Special Ops limit by 3. Raises Drone cap by 1. Gives 75% defense bonus. Costs $25.

Canals - Allow ships to cross through those regions. Cost varies, I will state cost on a case-by-case basis. May be built anywhere.


Trade

Trade generates 20% of the trading partner's economy.
Trading with nations at war costs 10% of your economy.
Trading with members of alliances at war costs 20% of your economy, in addition to the above.


Size Penalties

5 territories lose 5% of their gross economy.
10 territories lose 10% of their gross economy.
20 territories lose 15% of their gross economy.
40 territories lose 20% of their gross economy.
100 territories lose 35% of their gross economy.
150 territories lose 40% of their gross economy.
200 territories lose 45% of their gross economy.
250 territories lose 50% of their gross economy.
 
Militaries & Espionage

All nations have a base cap of 25 Armies, 15 Navies, and 5 Air Forces.

Marines - $15, 40 DMG, 50% Bonus attacking coastlines

National Guard - $8, 30 DMG, Can only defend, extra 25% (total of 50%) defense

Police Force - $3, 15 DMG, Can only defend

Guerrilla - $1, 10 DMG, Can conduct sneak attacks

Revolutionaries & the Black Market

Some groups will form, with varying motives, and attempt to take over nations.
Any tile they control will not generate benefits to the nation.
They will occassionally steal weapons from nations at war with them.
You can support them by giving them money or weapons, which will buy their loyalty.
Additionally, they will hold the Black Market, from which stolen weapons can be purchased, regardless of whether or not you have the tech.
Black Market goods have a 50% chance of backfiring.
