Greetings, Immortals and would-be Immortals (and indeed any other players of any level), and welcome to the Immortal University.

Here is our Leader:

Abit late due to me being ill last weekend :)
Settling, move warrior NW to see if any food to make plains hill a good settle, others its stone vs wine vs sip :)

Apparently, REXing into the face of 'harmless' neighbor ain't all that good idea. Ugh.

Gonna give it another try later.

450 BC

Spoiler :

Moved settler NE, saw coast and a plains hill with a blue circle on it and we have fishing so I moved my settler NE again. Would have moved back to wine if there was no seafood.

Tech iirc: Mining, Myst, Masonry, Sailing, Bronze, AH, Writing, Aest
Built the great wall, the great lighthouse and mids.
Did zero whipping in capital and 2-3 whips total in other cities.

I settled
Spoiler :
on the rice. Is that luck?

gspchamp999, I see you are training a spy. Out of curiosity, what will you use him for?

Spoiler :
My first great person was a spy from the great wall. I ended up settling him once I got the Mids and switched to rep. I should have enough EP on Izzy to steal a semi-decent tech in the near future. If not a tech, I may spam spread culture in Izzys Ivory city.

1040 bc
Spoiler :

Settled on the rice because I new the coast was near in the north and I wanted to leave space for further cities. Happy with the gamble because of the pigs I got :p

Opened with warrior first :crazyeye: as it took 8 turns, as much as growing to size 2.
2 warrior were enough for the first 3 millenia.

Tech order:
- AH
- Mining
- The Wheel
- Masonry

Build order:
- warrior
- worker
- settler
- worker
- worker

I wanted to settle aggressively toward Isabella to avoid being cramped on my peninsula. The settler stayed idle actually while worker 1 and worker 2 were roading toward New York. I would have settled immediately if she was threatening my corn/elephant site.

By the time Masonry was finished I had 3 workers ready, allowing me to quickly connect the stone while Washington was starting on the Great Wall.
New York built a settler first, which was due to go North of the Peninsula and bring fish to America.

Next techs I researched were:
- mysticism for a monument in NY
- Bronze working
- Writing

After TGW, Washington spat a 4th worker and another settler for the Silver site. My techrate was miserable then
I was lucky to spot the south fish just in time to avoid misplacing Philadelphia and got horses in its BFC as a reward :P

Philadelphia worked the silver immediately while going for monument > worker
Boston up north went monument > workboat while groing on the farmed wine then a grass mine. A barb city prevented me to place Boston just near the fish (and next to the cow), where I wanted to locate it initially.

With the help of chopping, I promptly built Pyramids in Washington while roading to Isabella's town. She was kind enough to open borders before I could get to writing but too lazy to make any road of her own (learn the wheel, will you?) or to spread Buddhism to me.

This is my current situation and I am happy with it :)
My next objectives are:
- Build a few libraries and have some rep scientists take care of the research
- Get into the trade game (Aesthetics first I think)
- Add 2 more cities to my empire (clam/bronze then south fish)
- Get some axes and head north to fight barbs and maybe claim the triple gem :yumyum: site.

Diplo will be fun as my only neighbor the queen of Spain is Buddhist while Hindu Persia/Portugal & Jew Zulus take care of her hm... behind  :backstab:

There is one more AI I need to find but my brave initial warrior is still alive and is mapping the land.

^ Hm. I saw this, concluded that 1500 BC DOW from a generally not dangerous neighbour that I got was random BS, and tried again. Played basically the same.

1060AD lib
Spoiler :
Settled N as I did on first try, as moving to wine revealed it to be 1 off coast.
Built SH, TGW and Mids early, and built the same two cities as before. I got declared on again, by Shaka and Nappy. Whipped wall in NY and Shaka's SoD got obliterated on my walled axemen. Made peace, then just teched to lib and took MT.

World's at war with Darius (my contribution is a few maces waiting in jungle to see if they can maybe snipe his city N of Boston). Teching gunpowder so I can build Cuirs/Cav and either go wipe out Darius or backstab Izzy.

Demo is abysmal outside GNP, where I'm second.

Spoiler :
Fun game with low techpace because of constant World War. Wanted to elepult Cyrus, and then Shaka and Stalin invaded. Then repelled them easily with jumbos and signed peace treaties where they gave gold. Invaded persia 10 turns later and had to face longbows so it was a bit slow war with some tactical mistakes, but pure numbers did their job and cyrus was reduced to one city and gave many techs for peace. The recipe for war was getting mids and running Police State, alongside with slavery and math powered ekocide (19 forests). It was literally 5 WEs per turn. And with 12+ cities, winning is not in quiestion.

1826 AD 'diplo' win
Spoiler :
Everything kept going to crap this game.

I made peace with Darius and started assembling cuirassier stack on Izzy's borders. But then she made peace with Darius too. So I sicced her on Charlie. But before I could assemble enough cuirs, demented Stalin peacevassaled to her! So when I declared, it took eons for her to capitulate (had to bring her down to 3 cities).

Then I continued on the war with Stalin with cavalry and capped him. I attacked Darius, who didn't have rifling yet, and wanted to wipe him out, as he was hated, but the bastard somehow got MACHINE GUNS in the middle of the war and I had to cap him instead. Then I saw Joao hadn't rifling, so I attacked, took one city and he capitulated.

Thought I had enough for AP win, but no, missed out by like 10 votes. Then Shaka and Nap declared on Toku and his vassal Charlie. So I basically had to join. Capped Charlie quickly with cav, bribed Nap and Shaka out of war with Toku and capped him with tanks.

Of course, stupid Charlie lost his city with buddhism to Shaka, so I had to spread it to him too before I could win.

Bleh.

Is there any way to play this save with the BUFFY mod?

EDIT: Meh. Sorry, I figured out what to do... Enter WorldBuilder -> Save -> Load up BUFFY and load the save from WorldBuilder (not forgetting to add the Archery tech to barbs)
