Future era

It seems that this has come up several times as an idea, so I thought it warrants a thread.
At the very least, it would make a good modmod(mod)

A bit hard to do this in a historical mod like this, because we don't know what the future brings A good idea, though.

Well... I mean, we're not really in the modern era anymore. We're in the Computer/Digital Era. Plus, I think the era we're moving towards is like a green era, or something of the sort. There are a lot of scientific breakthroughs since Vanilla that I'm sure we could add in. Alternate fuel could be revamped, internet concept could be refinished. We have drones now that do bombing, we have chemical warfare, laser tanks...
We should add an event that lets you hunt for terrorists, hah.
I think the EU should be represented, too. I mean, they're a huge influence.
We should really just replace "Future Era" with Digital Era.

well the space race is in which has not happened (alpha century), i would say if that's in put anything in, unless a real space race is done.

which has just given me an idea on which i will post.

EU hasnt been around long enough to determine its nature/influence/longevity, and how can one create such a European union in game and what would happen to its extra european colonies that it will still control, maybe an event that can cause open borders/defence pacts (it would prob be optional yes/no to euro civs)

terrorists are nothing new our age, and our age will not be defined by terrorism no more than any other, just nothing major has happened in a few decades (which happens) and people in the now always think what is happening will define an era, sadly it will not as it stands. at least for anything that is "visible" to us now.

digital era definatley, infact some of the modern era techs can be put in it already.

European Union isn't even a real Federation, let alone a country. Plus it probably/hopefully won't last past 2020.
a next war DoC modmod would be cool.

I'm glad I'm living in the first era of pan-European peace (ignoring the Balkans for convenience), even if it means I have to bear 'taxes fascism'.

Yep, beats the time when the Iron curtain went through the middle of Europe by a wide margin.

Morholt wrote this Union thing for RFCE++ that could be used to implement stuff like NATO, Warsaw pact etc. Too bad the code isn't in the mod

I always hear this (my Father claims if Georgia-n-Armenia were in the union there'd never have the Karavakh/Ossetia problem...yeah right, like it's solved the Basques in 30 years), but the peace really has nothing whatsoever to do with the Union. If anything it's caused a lot of Diplomatic penalties ("You made an arrogant demand!", "We are worried about your vassals being rivals towards our Empire", "Our non-borders spark tensions"), especially towards the Prussian Civilization.

But really, we need to add a new era. The Digital Era. The modern era is over, modernism is over. Fusion doesn't belong in the modern era anyways -- hasn't been viable yet. The internet also needs to be a lot more important; perhaps making a new branch about the internet, adding espionage bonuses through the internet and what not. Alternate fuel needs to be added (that's me), synthetic organs, wireless power, electric cars (even though those were invented before gasoline cars), cell phones, etc...
Another attribute about the digital age, similiar to how religion got a slap in the face with scientific method and liberalism, is less manufacturing jobs. Let's face it, end game has too much production and too little to build anyways. Why not shift from production to commerce/science? This would make civilization focus more on either capitalism, fixing their backwards country, diplomatic issues, resource issues, or science. And if science, then we can move onto digital age/future technologies such as cyborgs, etc.

Now that I think about it, the internet could even be influenced by civics. Obviously internet blocking is more preminent in places like North Korea and Iran.

What usually happens when you run out of things to build is that you switch to convert to gold/science. Which does a good job at representing the shift to service oriented economies.
