Earth 1890 A.D.

Current Version: v7

This is not meant as competition for World Domination 1885 or Imperial Age 1885 A.D., this is merely a lightweight alternative.

Hello, this is my first file/project in quite a while, so I hope it works well and is enjoyable.

This is a scenario of Earth in a world where world leaders live forever, are never impeached or removed from office, and wear the same style of clothes for millenia!
;)

This is an earth map, built around a scenario in which the world has reached the point where there is no more room for peaceful expansion, except the barbarian-ridden islands in the Pacific. All Civlizations start in-between the Renaissance and Industrial Eras technologically.

The playable nations are:
-African Coalition (Songhai)
-Arabian Federation
-Australia (Polynesia, DLC)
-Canada (Iriquois)
-China
-Colombian Republic (Inca, DLC)
-Czarist Russia (Russia)
-Kingdom of Denmark (DLC)
-France
-Germany
-Great Britain (England)
-Imperial Japan (Japan)
-India
-Iran (Babylon, DLC)
-Italy (Rome)
-Korea (DLC)
-Mexico (Aztec)
-Pakistan (Persia)
-Spain (DLC)
-Thailand (Siam)
-Turkey (The Ottomans)
-United States (America)

I plan on adding later versions with a specialized calendar that goes by days rather than years, and goes slowly to stretch only 160 years over the course of 400 turns.

All Civilizations start with under-developed cities, and somewhat improved territory. All Civilizations start with either one completed social policy tree or culture to spend as they please.

Also, I aimed for balance over historical accuracy, in fact, the only real historical accuracy I aimed for are the date of the scenario, and the placement of cities.

NOTE: Although I tried to give each Civilization a balanced start, Russia probably has the most difficult start, but it also has the start with the most potential.

This scenario comes with a mod that gives it the correct timeline and allows more enjoyable gameplay.

You can find the file HERE.

hey, i was actually surprised seeing that since i all the time thought myself about making a lighter weight version of such a scenario but im way too lazy.

i took a look at this and i have to say i didnt know a small map that covers the whole world can look that good, but there are some things i noticed if your aware of that and it was just your decision dont care about that, but:

-Munich is way to far in the west it should be 2 tiles more to the east or just rename it Frankfurt which is in my thought anyways a more important City.

-Poland didnt occupy the Area of Danzig near Königsberg until Allies gave it to them after WWI.
actually it wasnt a sovereign state until then but thats okey it gives more diversity to Europe :D

-there are several other things but as you wrote you didnt try to directly make it historicly correct but more gameplay fun focused.

anyways i like it and your map gave me some ideas thank you <3

Thank you for the positive feedback! I was slightly concerned that it had been up for hours and no one had looked at it.

I will probably rename Munich to Frankfurt, considering that I don't want to put the extra work into moving it; plus, where it is right now, it serves as a slight military barrier/foundation against Western Europe.

The map is actually just an enhanced version of Rhye's for CIV.

I realize that Poland didn't control Danzig until the whole Versailles ordeal, but it provides a slight challenge for any human player using Germany and a small incentive to invade Eastern Europe.

as a warmonger between france and germany you could just make it Straßburg.

moving citys or give them to other civs is infact a torture you have to delete the one add new pop new buildings borders blah blah thats the point why i never update my non DLC versions :x it was enough torture for me to add buildings to my 200 or whatever how much citys i got

Would the "ß" be accepted both in Worldbuilder and in-game?

Oh, ok, I was just wondering.

I had a question about ModBuddy as well, this is basically my first mod, and I have no idea how to update the file attached to the upload. How would I go about that?

im not the right person for questions about modbuddy had huge problems with crashes etc.and since then i didnt use it anymore i just handwrite all :p

Well, then hopefully someone with a lot of ModBuddy experience will be able to put it in n00b terms for me :p

Thanks for your input, btw, I appreciate it a lot!

Found it under recommended mods, thanks for telling me! Yeah, your scenario actually inspired me to do this, since I loved the idea of your scenario but just a large map makes my laptop run choppy, let alone a huge one with hundreds of cities.

If I ever buy a $2000 computer, I'll be sure to try your scenario ;)

The Union of Socialist Soviet Republics dates from the 1920s. So ´Czarist Russia´ would be more appropriate for a 1890 AD start. ;)

I tried putting in Czarist Russia, but as soon as I put "Cz" in the Worldbuilder it removed both C and z. :( If I could figure out why it does this I would happily put Czarist Russia

this sometimes randomly happens just try to copy and paste it from somewhere else.

the thing with the indian wars is a pretty cool idea, mind if i steal you that feature? :p

small thing, you missed a Palace in Washington in your newest version
and Hamburg should be on the east side of the river "Elbe" (one tile to the east)

btw sheesh you zombied me!

I don't care if you take that idea, I just wanted to give America a challenge so a human player cannot immediately focus on destroying Canada and Mexico.

I don't know how the Palace got deleted in Washington, but I will be sure to put it back in ;)

I also placed Hamburg specifically to create tension with Brussels and to prevent it from crowding workable Berlin tiles.

EDIT: With Hamburg, I won't remove the city, but I may rename it to Bremen.

LOL :goodjob: you fell for it! you are #109 ;)

Heh, I've had in my dreams a scenario for late victorian era and I discover they exist already. Marvellous. :)

I'd just love to see the techs end at Great War era and the units that come with GAK.

for better performance i recomend checking only conquest victory condition
i like your mod thanks

I will most likely not update it for Gods and Kings (unless there is a significant amount of people who would appreciate it), seeing as how this was a spur-of-the-moment project.

Thanks, I like my mod too! ;) I would've checked conquest only, but I prefer to play more peaceful games most of the time, and I wanted to leave it open-ended for men like myself. Glad you liked it! :goodjob:
