I recently played as Persia on Terra world on Prince difficulty. Game was too easy. So I decided to Play on King. I have played on King a few times, I usually do well except for one or two civs that usually get a bit ahead of me. This time however I want to make a prosperous nation with little amount of war, beeline for the Naval benefits and rush the New World. I have never played England before. Lets see how this Turns out. I will post every game changing decision or every 100 turns whichever comes first. I will use screen shots but if need be I might include some vids with some commentary if I have time.

The game is 21 civs on Huge so that will be a challenge. I think I will try to get 3-4 cities at the minimum making a tall empire, then going to the new world and expanding like crazy. Don't know how that strat will work. Feel free to suggest things to help me improve. I am not very good at CIV 5 but I am a fairly quick learner.

Here is the Setup Screen

Good luck.

Thoughts : Initial spot seems a bit low in term of production. You have marble, but from my experience you should move your warrior on the riversided forest to the north and see if it's better up there. Maybe take 3-4 turns to settle(you can afford this at epic speed) on a really good inland spot for better long term opportunities. Keep marble for another city.

First, Yes I will be using reload to change decisions. I know people aren't fond of that but I am trying to get better and I will like i could use the advantage.

Now here are the scenarios

If I move to the north, one tile

If I move further North-east

If i move to the south, couple tiles

I like the spot by the coast on the hill above the pasture so that I can have my first city coastal. I hate the face that there is no river near by and no Luxury source. Yes this is a rather crap start.
The reason why I want to settle near the coast so I can rush the Great Lighthouse. I really want that as I want to expand on the New World rather than the starting continent.

What should I do?

What should I do?

I would settle south of the gem tile and keep a city between the marble and another luxury tile for a coastal city. You have a great land sir. Forests= lot of early production. research mining and chop these damned forests! :)

So Should I research mining first then Pottery and sailing? So when I build the TGLH I can chop the forests to hasten the building.
