NESes have come a long way since my Scandinavian rebellion back when we knew, we knew (I still love ya Jason!), but I have not.
I am trying once more, a story NES.
Dark blue lines on the map indicate areas not passable by sea until Age of Sail. You may not cross the sea at all until Bronze Age. Barbarians under my control will spring up from the upper right until they are eradicated sometime in the Dark Ages.

You can make up your own nation, you start with a small army and tiny navy or tiny army and small navy, Cro-Magnon Education/Religion/Culture, and in the stone age. Say starting position and religion and whatnot. You can then issue 2 orders a turn, expanding counting as one.
Also pick 2 traits:
Militaristic: You nation gets a bonus in wars.
Scientific: You may discover new ages earlier.
Religious: You may convert outlying regions to your control if your religion is above Good and 2 levels above the other person.
Expansionist: Barbarians bother you less, you expand faster
Industrious: You can issue 3 orders a turn.
Commercial: Money is easily divertable, at the drop of a hat 2 levels from edu/cul/rel may be converted into 3 army sizes. You must be at war first, and this can only be done once every 3 turns.
You can build wonders. You can attempt espionage, PM deals, and backstabbing.
Once I have 5 players, update will come about 12 hours after that. I wil attempt to update about 3 times a week.
This post will get edited a lot as I answer questions and fix inaccuracies. I think that is all, now join!
