Game Start ETA: Week of 14th May
Good morning, afternoon and evening.
Welcome, fillies and gentlecolts, to the launch of Iron and Blood 2. Before we get started on sign-ups, though, please read through this. This is the rule set for this game (rules may change between now and when the game starts, but probably not too much).
Now that you've done that, let's get started.
Signing-up
How do I join? Fill out this application
Nation name: what you want to call it (include both short form and official form)
Flag: can be RL flag or make your own.
Color: what you want your color to be on the map.
Capital: your capital province. You will start the game with 5 IC in this province.
You can also claim up to two other provinces (so you can have up to 3 starting provinces in total (but non-capital don't start with IC). They should be connected to your capital somehow, so they must be either continguous with the capital or you can get there from the capital by sea.
Description: give a description of your country, (preferably more than a few sentences, but you don’t need to write an essay) for example who lives in your country, history, politics, government policies, religion, culture, sport, and anything else you care to add.
Factions: nominate three of the most influential factions in your country, and include its policies/ideologies.
Can I has ponies? Short answer is no. Long answer: please create plausible countries. I do care if your country is inhabited by radioactive sultanas. Our setting is 19th century alternate history Earth; your country should fit into that environment. If you can sneak in some elements of your favourite tv show or other work of fiction, that's fine as long as it blends in with the game world.
I’m not very strict about it but you are expected to know a bit about geography (for example, expect a tougher fight in mountainous Afghanistan or snowy Russia) as well as some knowledge of 19th and 20th century history, and if you show up in 1860 with televisions or aircraft carriers or a 10 million-men army, I will assume you are consciously powergaming and take appropriate action. Anyone who forms Most Interesting Nation in the Worldistan will be kicked instantly.
What can I expect?: This is probably one of the more complicated and time-consuming IOTs around. It takes perhaps 5-30 minutes to put your orders for the turn together, depending on how many things are going on for your country at the time, and how detailed you want to be in your orders and roleplaying. Diplomatic discussions take a bit more of your time.
The game start in 1815. You all start at roughly real life 1800s tech; by this time you’re starting to see factories and early railroads appearing. Armies fight with late Napoleonic weapons. You are starting to see early steamships but wooden sailing ships, including ships of the line and fast ocean-going “clippers”, still dominate the waves. It is an exciting time when new ideas and ideologies are rising to challenge the status quo.
You can leave the game at anytime; I’m not going to stop you, though please, only join this game if you think you can stay active. You can rejoin, unless I kicked you out. Countries of people who quit will be NPCed or disbanded. I may also disband nations of players who become inactive.
