"Free" Great People increasing GP point requirements

I'm not sure if this was intended but I haven't seen anything about it and it's not in the patch notes. I had assumed someone posted about this already.

Since the June 14th patch, the free GP from Liberty and Hagia Sophia increases your generation threshold by 100 points just as if a new person had been born. Both these "free" GPs now give the "A great person has been born" notification as well, something they previously did not do.

Now, what makes me think this may be unintended, besides that it's undocumented, is that free social policies(at least from The Oracle) do NOT increase the amount of culture required for the next policy. This seems very inconsistent.

I can provide screenshots if necessary.

Had the same thing too, didn't notice the increase in cost though. I'm hoping with more voices, someone from 2K will take note.

Ok, so I'm blind. Opened another thread here and didn't see this one.

I can confirm.

Got GE from HS, another one from Liberty finisher and one hard earned GS. Next GP (everyone but general) will be born at 400GPP. GS was born at 300GPP.



It's a welcome change, on one hand, on the other hand, it really smells like laziness to me. So we'll have 2 GS less. Or will skip ND and will have only 1 GS less. Can't really call it a nerf to bulbing end game party. All that said, probably not a bug. (Or is it just a wishful thought? )

I noticed that the Liberty tree completion and the HS increase GPP requirements.

Also the Babylonian UA for increased GS generation does not appear to be functioning.

1) At the start of a game, the initial threshold of great general was 200. After I completed Liberty SP, or adopted Warrior Code, a free Great General was born but the threshold did not increase.

2) If a Great Prophet is born, after completion of Liberty SP, faith threshold and other GP threshold increase together but Great General threshold does not move.

3) If a Great Artist is born, under same circumstance, only usual GP threshold increases, while General and Prophet threshold does not change.

I wonder how the new rule works exactly. I attached the savefile I tested.

...Um, this was posted because of the June 14th patch before G&K was released. This thread also predates those stickies.

It is obvious now that it was intended, but at the time it I posted this it was simply an undocumented change that could have easily been construed as a bug. I would encourage you to check post dates.

This can be locked, by the way.

I think now we have to change focus. The introductory video says a free great general increases the cost of next great general. But, in my test, it did not work. Great general and great admiral are not affected by the new rule.
Also, free great prophet increases the cost of great artist but it does not work reversely. It should be clarified which is intended and which is bug.
