there has been a huge decline in posting since the split. i don't think this is coincidence.

UNITE THE OTS

C'mon, by now you should give us an "eh, it's fine" poll option. I don't really like it, but I don't really dislike it either. The "no" option suggests dislike. I can't vote. :(

I feel like moderation has decreased overall. That's mostly a good thing, but there are really glaring exceptions. Do any OT mods still post with any regularity, or am I just reading the wrong threads?

I find it hard to decide. Mise mentioned in the other OT split thread a Europeanization of the Chamber. I think what this entails is that certain posters with --- controversial view points associated with the American right have not much of a presence in the Chamber. Which in deed is a bliss. Yet, I think Chamber threads also are bound to miss some beneficial activity they would get in the unified OT.

You know, I've found I don't mind the Tavern posts not counting towards the post count, because I've stopped caring about the post count.

I still don't like it. It's annoying, and instead of having one good forum we got two mediocre.

I treat both forums the same exact way.

All the forum split is forcing me to do is surf two instead of one.

Unite them already.

This is what I do.

I post the same in both.

What Joecoolyo and Lucy said. I don't like it, I don't hate it, it's just a bit more of an inconvenience. Most of the threads in either subforum could easily go in the other. It's quite difficult at times to decide what subforum to put a new thread in.

Just merge them back. Use the Diamond for serious moderation and not for Tavern style. And fold science&tech and A&E into OT proper. It was more fun that way and that way we can all comment on it. Having different subforums for every little things just makes them wither and die.

I don't like it, it killed much of the traffic in OT, and the switching between forums is annoying. But i'm starting to accept it, in the same way that someone who loses leg start to ccept that he will never play sport again.

Oh I like that analogy. The Chamber being all European and cultured and civilized, but ruled with the iron fist, while the Tavern being all American and slack jawed and chinless, but breathing the fresh air of liberty.

Can't we all just get along?

I hate it. Seeing a thread on a topic I feel passionately about only to realize it's in the Chamber instead of the Tavern means I can't make my usual hit-and-run opinion posts without getting infracted for spam or challenged to a debate. It's also why I hate the Red Diamond thing.

Just merge back OT with Tavern-style moderation as the default. Keep the Red Diamond system for those that want strict moderation of their threads and if some sort of intermediate level of chambermaiding is desired, select a thread designation symbol that is more strict than the default, but less strict than Red Diamond.

I allow myself to be ruder in the Tavern. That's the only difference.
I allow myself to be rude on another site where I emphatically disagree with someone, or think somebody has said something monumentally stupid or callous.

The poll needs a "meh" option.

And if the staff is sincere about wanting feedback, this thread should be stickied.
