The Story of Siam

With the new G&K expansion, True Start Location maps are even better now and more "realistic". This is a game that I am playing as Siam on Gedemon's TSL Earth Giant map with some of my own modifications to the terrains(like adding where the new natural wonders are).

I play on Prince and plan to win Diplomatic or Culture victory.

In the beginning, I play as Siam and start in Southeast Asia. To the east is the Mekong River flowing from Himalayan and Hanoi. To the west is India and Mt.Kailash as well as Lhasa. There are lots of jungles and elephants of course. This is why I took Sacred Paths as Pantheon to get more culture. Other nations soon worship different gods. Overtime, Sukothai grew.



Hanoi, Singapore, Jakarta, Lhasa, and Kuala Lumpur were nearby. I befriended them all except Hanoi. I also expand my borders by building more cities and get different luxury resources.




I found Buddhism and enhanced my religion. My people are very kind and hardworking.



Spreading my religion around, city states love me and India agree to be best friend with me.




There were natural wonders nearby, so I set sail and find new towns near Krakatoa and Sri Pada.




Around the world, nations are fighting each other. China and Korea were being invaded by Mongolia and Japan. Japan performed a successful naval assault and took over Seoul and gain the Great Lighthouse. Now they are planning to do the same thing to Shanghai. My trireme reporter was there to see the actions.




Wu Zetain is pretty screwed but she managed to build Great Wall so she is holding out against the warmongers.

With Eastern Asia descended in chaos, I have no more trading opportunities. China and Korea will be gone from history soon. I turned my attention westward. With India's permission, the Siamese people travel west. First, we met the Babylonians. Their capital is huge with Wheat and Sugar all around between 2 rivers.



Next, our expedition travel the seas toward the Red Sea. It is in this channel of ocean that we meet Ethiopia to the west and Arabia to the east. Travel upward we can see the city of Basra, acting as the Suez Canal. We had to pay Arabia lots of money to pass to the Mediterranean sea. There is Mount Sinai right there so our people get +1 happiness.


Here we meet Greece, Rome, and strangely a boat from Denmark. We promptly exchange embassies with these peaceful people.



However, they are not so peaceful and are at war with each other. Arabia is fighting a 2 front war against Babylon and Greece. For now, Siam is at peace and will keep spreading our peaceful teachings to the far corners of the Earth. Soon, we will have elephants!





I'm thinking of expanding to Australia next. There are lots of barbarian tribes there so I need more military. Should I befriend Hanoi to deter Mongolia and Japan if they declare war on me? Also, I need some Research Agreements soon so I dunno who to be friends with. Everyone loves me right now. hehehe

Nice map! Can you upload it with your modifications? But why did you Chose the Ascetism follower Belief, would not Pagodas have been more fitting?

lol I was going to pick Pagoda but then I realized Gedemon didn't add the new type of city states into the game. Lhasa is there but it is still Cultural and not Faith cs. I would not have enough faith to buy missionaries AND get pagodas. Hope he work on this soon.

What is the point of having 2 happiness beliefs ? I think one is fine.
